Troy Carter | Managing Lady Gaga to Launching Atom Factory, Q&A, and Venice Music

Troy Carter rose to prominence representing and nurturing global superstars including Lady Gaga and John Legend as founder & CEO of Atom Factory. He is the former Global Head of Creator Services for Spotify and the current founder and CEO of Venice Music and Q&A, a technology + media company focused on powering the business of music via distribution, services, and data analytics.

His latest venture is the Venice Music Collective; an independent membership music community for creators where members are given access, opportunities, and the ability to achieve greater wealth as independent artists. Born from the idea that the current industry models for independent artists are limited and/or broken, the goal of Venice Music Collective is to empower and support independent artists and their careers in a more equitable way than what currently exists.

02 - The Creators Era, and The Music Industry "Past, Present, and Future" with Music Visionary and Executive Marc Geiger

02 - The Creators Era, and The Music Industry "Past, Present, and Future" with Music Visionary and Executive Marc Geiger

This week’s special guest is music visionary and executive Marc Geiger: co-founder of Lollapalooza, founder and CEO of Artist Direct, head of World Wide Music for William Morris for 20 years, and current CEO and Chairman of SaveLive. As someone who has been named one of the most important people in music and has worked closely with legends such as Trent Reznor and the Rolling Stones, Geiger is the go-to expert for the current state and future of the music industry.

Geiger discusses his predictions for the comeback of the music industry. Regardless of when live events fully return, Geiger predicts the market will be healthy and robust. Although, a new era of the music industry is coming to fruition called the “Creator’s Era,” which is changing the ways in which artists monetize themselves and connect to their audiences.

Geiger predicts NFTs will converge with the music industry by acting as a decentralized way for musicians to do commerce and connect to audiences. As for the future of NFTs, Geiger posits that they will operate as a digital boarding pass in your phone. It will take on many functions, which can range from being a certificate of authenticity, a shopping cart, or a way to transfer funds.

Lately, a point of contention in the music industry is the amount of money artists make from streaming services. According to Geiger, the model for streaming rates isn’t necessarily wrong. In fact, it will improve as streaming platforms increase the amount they charge consumers. Because streaming services such as Spotify are in their teenage years, they will continue to grow and create new mechanisms for artists to make money. The current models we see in streaming are merely “base layers” that will continue to evolve.

Stick around to hear Geiger’s experience signing the Rolling Stones as his first artist while at Artist Direct, and how he pioneered e-commerce with Mick Jagger.

This Crypto Could Make You MILLIONS As a Music Producer | MMP w/ Omari MC

This Crypto Could Make You MILLIONS As a Music Producer | MMP w/ Omari MC

At face value, they might not seem like they're worth much to most businesses (and to be honest I didn't see much value in them at first either)...

...but after Omari started explaining them to me, it's no surprise why some music producers like himself and Illmind have already started to leverage them.

They're sort of like a stock that you would trade on a stock exchange, but for influencers and creators.

So let's say I created a Creator Coin for my music production business, Legion Beats; if you wanted to support Legion Beats, you would put capital towards the Legion Beats Creator Coin.

The value of the coin goes up and down, kinda like stocks fluctuate in the stock market, but with Creator Coins there's an added incentive for investing.

That's because you can incentivize people who support your Coin, and one way you can do that is by rewarding people and giving them access to special content and deals only they have access to.

    Isn't that pretty sweet?

I'd say so - I can't think of many other currencies that have this much power to build brand loyalty.

DISCLAMIER: It's still a very new concept, though!

That's why I highly suggest you start learning about it ASAP so you're ahead of the competition when more people start adopting it.

Start taking your first steps by watching my discussion with Omari in the newest episode of the MM Podcast.
