    101. Let's Taco 'Bout Mystery Men featuring NUR-D

Welcome the SEASON PREMIERE of Let’s Taco ‘Bout! After a long summer hiatus, it’s time to get back in the swing of things. This episode was recorded LIVE at Back Lot 605’s SiouxperCon Film Festival!  I am joined by NUR-D, Matt Allen, a rapper from the Twin Cities who loves “geek” culture. We chatted about finding our “in” with pop culture, his love for music, and how the murder of George Floyd inspired him to action and creative release.  We then dove into the 1999 action comedy, Mystery Men.

    TDR-Ep.10-Mystery Men
Join us for this special episode as we are joined by a special guest while we dicuss the 1999 super hero movie? Mystery Men: Champion City already has a superhero, the appropriately named Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear), but that doesn't deter the city's seven quirky amateur crime-fighters, who use the Captain's capture at the hands of villain Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) as motivation to prove themselves. The only problem is that their strange powers -- silverware hurling, bowling, shovel skills, incompetent invisibility and deadly flatulence -- aren't doing them any favors. Meet the Fictitious Five

    Meet the Fictitious Five

In this episode, Shakin Shaner is joined by three expert panelists to create a new superhero team....The Fictitious Five.  For some context--this is all in the spirit of the comic books Flaming Carrot and the Mystery Men.

They must create their superheroes from a list of 15 absurd super powers, a name and an origin story.  Our team also discovers that they are missing the Fictitious Five leader, the Night Manager. Then they must discuss interviewing new members.  Full of jackassery, you do not want to miss this!

Before we can get into today's movie, we must pay our respects to Chadwick Boseman. Boseman was famous for bringing so many important characters to life on screen, and none of those characters may have had the far-reaching cultural impact as his turn as Black Panther in the MCU. He carried himself with poise and power and a silent courage, even as he battled cancer for the past four years. Bryan and Shane open this episode with a look back at the enduring legacy of Chadwick Boseman.

Then, in today's advertised content, Shane and Bryan kick off Ben Stiller-tember a couple of days early by tackling the 1999 superhero ensemble film, Mystery Men, starring Ben Stiller (of course), William H. Macy, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Reubens, Greg Kinnear, Hank Azaria, Kel Mitchell, and countless others...LITERALLY. There are so many people in this movie.

Champion City is missing their hero, Captain Amazing (Kinnear). Who is going to help save the city from super villain, Cassanova Frankenstein? The Other Guys! That's who!
