    E1 HOEAB (Part 1): Chapters 1-3

This season, Jac and Amy conduct a literary analysis of Sara J Maas' book Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood! This is Part 1 of Episode 1.

Welcome to Lunathion, aka Crescent City, where Bryce Quinlan and her best friend Danika Fendyr are working women by day, and resident party gals by night. An encounter with a Nightstalker forces Danika to visit Bryce at Giffin Antiquities, where she leaves her weapons and borrows clothes before attending a meeting with the Heads of the City. In the early chapters of House of Earth and Blood where the relationships are plentiful and messy, the scene is set and groundwork laid for the journey of Bryce and those she loves most.

This episode of Book Talk for BookTok covers chapters 1 through 3 of Sarah J. Maas' Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood.

Feel Good Friday! Disorder in the Court: Hilarious Real Life Stories of Courtroom Exchanges

This week, Steve decided to try and inject a little humor into your Friday (or whatever day it is that you happen to be listening to this), and borrow again from his friend Brad Aronson’s blog.  Brad is best known for writing the inspiring bestselling book Humankind: Changing the World One Small Act at a Time (all proceeds go to nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters).

In this episode Steve reads excerpts from Brad's blog detailing actual exchanges  taken by court reporters between lawyers and witnesses on the stand, taken from a book called Disorder in the Court: Great Fractured Moments in Courtroom History.

    Superhero Squirrels

    Superhero Squirrels

We introduce the second episode by playing a segment of the popular game "Would You Rather." We talked about superhero squirrels, homeless Tai-Jitsu masters, and bull testicles. Here were the questions:

    1. Would You Rather go sky diving or cliff diving?
    2. Would You Rather fight a homeless man for 2 five minute rounds or fight a professional fighter for 1 minute?
    3. Would You Rather eat a live octopus or Rocky Mountain Oysters?

We followed by recapping the love and feedback from each and every one of our listeners from our pilot episode. We express our appreciation for our fans. We also talk about what we did the past weekend celebrating the fourth of July!

We also talked about popular topics and gave our views on things such as upcoming fights, booming technology, and strong communities.

**We are dropping our merch designs soon and we want your input on it all...because you will be the one rocking it! Check us out on all social media handles @inthevanpodcast

Loss, Laughter and Healing Over Time with Chelsea London Lloyd

Loss, Laughter and Healing Over Time with Chelsea London Lloyd

Before we come to our own passing of life on Earth, death will undoubtedly affect every single person yet it’s often considered taboo or uncomfortable to talk about but Chelsea London Lloyd is here to change that narrative. Chelsea is an actor, comedian, grief activist, grief support volunteer, and podcast host of Dying of Laughter where she shares her healing journey in growing up with two sick parents. Chelsea’s dad died of ALS after a 15 year journey and her mom currently combats stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for the second time.

In this episode, Ashley and Chelsea discuss Chelsea’s childhood and her personal experience of growing up with two sick parents and ultimately losing one at the age of 19, some difficult and challenging questions we can ask our loved ones when it comes to death, how she intertwines humor, comedy, and grief, why she started her own grief group, and some incredible resources for grieving and loss.

Chelsea grew up in extensive musical theatre since childhood. Her recent credits include SCHOOLED (ABC) and BARRY (HBO) with director Bill Hader and her sassy, self-deprecating humor has made her a stand-out in viral videos on BuzzFeed and Funny or Die. Dying of Laughter includes interviews with grief counselors, funeral directors, cancer survivors, previvors, therapists, life coaches, oncologists + genetic counselors to name a few.

    TDR-Ep.10-Mystery Men
Join us for this special episode as we are joined by a special guest while we dicuss the 1999 super hero movie? Mystery Men: Champion City already has a superhero, the appropriately named Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear), but that doesn't deter the city's seven quirky amateur crime-fighters, who use the Captain's capture at the hands of villain Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) as motivation to prove themselves. The only problem is that their strange powers -- silverware hurling, bowling, shovel skills, incompetent invisibility and deadly flatulence -- aren't doing them any favors.
