What's the Point... First Five... Episode 2 - When Jesus Ran After Me

What's the Point... First Five... Episode 2 - When Jesus Ran After Me

Ever felt like hope was a distant dream, obscured by the clouds of your mistakes? Let's clear the skies in this edition of First Five, as we unpack Evangelist James Wilson's sermon from yesterday, "When Jesus Ran After Me." Journey as we dissect the prodigal son's story from the gospel of Luke, diving into the heart of entitlement and the transformative power of humility.

Imagine a father, breaking cultural taboos, running—unabashed to welcome his wayward son home. That's the scene we scrutinize, drawing wisdom from the father's perspective, adorned with undignified love and limitless grace. Wilson's message is a compelling call to recognize not the son's extravagance in wastefulness but rather the father's extravagance in mercy. Join us for a conversation that promises to inspire, challenge, and perhaps shift your perception of acceptance and grace. This episode isn't just about a biblical story; it's about personalizing the profound layers of love awaiting us all when we choose to return home.

    You're So Close

    You're So Close

We did it.  We've made it a whole year.  That's actually more than a decade of hits.  The feeling is mutual- don't spill your drink.  We're making resolutions and you're not gonna like 'em.  Want to learn another language?  Why not try Latin, you can drink while you speak it.   Through the power of friendly conversation, the boys pinpoint the commonality of their high school experience: people touched themselves nearby.  Provability is probable cause, and our cause is probably a tummy issue.  In an unprecedented rant, Michael explains how we got here and why we shouldn't have.  Mahalo, salt life, and good morrow to you.

Rewarding My Younger Self | Jon Heder on Fatherhood, Priorities, NFTs

Rewarding My Younger Self | Jon Heder on Fatherhood, Priorities, NFTs

At what point in your life did you realize that you wanted to be a father? Even as a kid, actor Jon Heder recognized he was born to be a dad. When the cultural phenomenon Napoleon Dynamite unexpectedly launched him into the spotlight in 2004, Jon knew how he’d balance that with family life: family would simply always take priority. Nearly 20 years and four kids later, Jon works when he wants to, indulges selfie-hungry fans, and keeps his priorities in check.

Episode 75 of Modern Dadhood opens with a chat about when in their lives Adam and Marc knew they wanted to have kids, and some discussion of whether the family you grow up in might impact your vision or plans for your own family. The guys introduce Jon Heder, who grew up in a family of 6, who reflects on a positive upbringing. Jon, known for his roles in films like Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory, Mama's Boy, and Tremors: Shrieker Island, knew even as a kid that he was going to be a dad. He was married young, and he and his wife began growing their family several years after the release of Napoleon Dynamite brought him international fame. Jon shares candidly about his decision to continue acting while being selective about the roles he took so that his family and faith could always remain his priorities. The conversation goes deep, and covers topics like:

    •  The pros and cons of raising twins
    •  Does growing up in a large family influence your desire to have multiple kids?
    •  The various ways parenthood is hard AND rewarding
    •  How Jon balances family with his acting career
    •  Bringing family to set when filming
    •  The fear of “oversaturating” your kids
    •  How Jon addresses fan interactions when he’s with his family
    •  The importance of modeling kindness and respect
    •  Jon’s NFT project “Order of the Tigons”
    •  And more!
