When you don't charge enough for your services

When you don't charge enough for your services

We are all afraid to charge too much for our services.  We are worried that if we are too expensive then clients won't come to us. In this episode we discuss what happens when you don't charge enough for your services.

How do we justify charging more for seemingly the same service from somewhere else? Because you are not the same.  You have different education, different experience, different connections with your clients and different training.

When you don't charge enough you cannot afford to pay for marketing

you can't afford to have a sale

you can't afford to get advanced training

you can't afford to purchase quality supplies

you can't afford to pay yourself

Two ways to attract new clients

Two ways to attract new clients

Is your business ready, prices set, retail on the shelves, insurance, website, social media done? Sounds perfect- what could be missing? Clients. The biggest mistake that new business owners make is assuming that clients will come flocking in once you open your doors.  Not that long ago you were able to place an ad in your local newspaper saying you are starting a new business and clients would show up.  Why? because advertising was limited to a few places and most people got their information from those places.  Those times are long gone.

Today’s client is sophisticated, inundated with ads coming from all directions and overwhelmed with options. There are influencers, product placement in movies and tv shows, and celebrities pushing their own beauty lines.  How do we compete with that?

In this episode we look at two ways to gain new clients:

    1) We look at the client's pain points and break them down.

    2) We  ask the clients for their opinions and feedback

Seem simple? It can be but doing this properly can gain you followers and new clients.  Best thing is the clients you attract are your ideal clients!

    100. How He Makes $1.25M/Month Scooping Pet Waste?!

    100. How He Makes $1.25M/Month Scooping Pet Waste?!

E.J. McCoy saw a gap in the home services market for pet owners: poop scooper service. He started Scoop Soldiers in 2010 to meet that need, and has built this concept into multiple home services brands with more than $25 million in combined revenue. We’ll learn how he started and grew his businesses in this episode.

Like many kids, E.J. mowed lawns for extra money when he was growing up . He had his own lawn care business by the time he was in high school, founding his first business, Emerald Lawn and Landscaping, in 2006. He’s continued to add brands and expand his business in the years since, expanding to include pest control, fertilization, junk removal, window washing, and other complementary revenue streams. Along the way, he’s also expanded with franchise opportunities to grow beyond his Texas community.

With Scoop Soldiers, E.J. offers something unique: a pet waste removal service–in other words, something most people don’t want to do themselves. We’ll learn how he launched this business, along with his other brands. While lawn care and maintenance are easy businesses to start, they’re not without their challenges. E.J. will share the setbacks he faced and how he overcame them to build an 8-figure empire.

E142 - Successful Selling To & With GSI’s with Kevin Purcell

E142 - Successful Selling To & With GSI’s with Kevin Purcell

In this episode of Tech Sales Insights, host Randy Seidl is joined by Kevin Purcell, a seasoned expert in selling to and with Global System Integrators (GSIs), and the Head of Global Strategic Partnerships at Hitachi Vantara. They explore the significance of GSIs in the tech industry, share valuable insights on how to effectively collaborate with these complex organizations, and offer practical strategies for companies of all sizes to leverage GSIs in their go-to-market approach

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Understanding GSIs: GSIs, or Global System Integrators, play a critical role in the IT industry, driving approximately 10% of the total market revenue. They work closely with enterprises to shape their digital transformation journeys.
Investment in GSIs: To succeed with GSIs, companies must be prepared to make significant monetary and resource investments. The key is to pick the right GSI partner willing to collaborate and invest in a mutually beneficial partnership.
Go-to-Market Strategies: Companies can achieve success with GSIs by focusing on specific niche areas or industry verticals. It's essential to establish relationships with senior personnel within the GSIs, align goals with their interests, and create joint offerings that add value to both parties.
Executive Sponsorship: Building a strong relationship with an executive sponsor within the GSI can open doors to significant opportunities. These sponsors often have industry experience and connections that can benefit both companies.
Building a GSI Team: Companies should assemble a team of experienced professionals who understand the complexities of working with GSIs. These team members should have global experience, industry knowledge, and the ability to build meaningful relationships.

    QUOTES

"If you're not including GSIs in your indirect channel strategy, you might be missing out on a significant portion of the market opportunity."
"Pick one GSI, make it successful, and then build from there."
"Executive sponsors within GSIs can help advance your career within that organization by bringing revenue and value."
"Investing in GSIs requires significant monetary and resource commitments, but the rewards can be substantial."
"Understanding the unique persona within GSIs is crucial to building successful relationships."

Amanda's journey from corporate life to the creator economy is filled with valuable lessons about embracing awkward self-promotion, overcoming 'Cringe Valley', and the journey of (maybe?) writing a book. This conversation is a must-listen for anyone looking to carve out a calm niche in a world full of "hustle culture," or just for those curious about the behind-the-scenes of a first-time author getting into book publishing.

I didn't set out to chat about writing books, but it was too exciting an opportunity: Amanda announced that she's writing a book! Amanda has walked the tightrope of maintaining authenticity while engaging with the book publishing industry's commercial demands, and she shares this experience with us. We get into the nitty-gritty of dealing with Imposter Syndrome, understanding the angle publishers are looking for, and using hype effectively. It's a deep-dive into the business side of books, the choices of self-publishing or seeking an agent, and the journey towards finding validation in our creative endeavors.

But it's not all hustle and bustle; we also touch on the vital importance of rest and self-care in our lives. Amanda talks about how crucial it is for creators to set boundaries on social media, carefully choosing what aspects of their lives to share. We learn about the balance between sharing personal and private moments, with invaluable insights from Amanda's own experience, including the trauma of a social media hack and the importance of diversifying platforms. So, tune in for a candid, comprehensive, and genuinely helpful discussion on thriving in the creator economy.

Martin Pochtaruk of Heliene Solar on Speeding the Energy Transition Ep.71

Why would a solar panel manufacturing company put time and energy into innovating for niche markets? What are the benefits of developing products for very specific applications like greenhouses, satellites or power-generating building facades?

Martin Pochtaruk is the President and CEO of Heliene, a customer-first provider of North American-made solar panels serving the utility-scale, commercial and residential markets.
