    === History Lesson

    Columbia House was a mail-order service that was formed in 1955 by CBS/Columbia Records. The service was initially designed to market music directly by mail, targeting rural consumers who had limited access to music stores. In the 1980s and 1990s, Columbia House was particularly popular, offering deals such as "8 CDs for a penny" which attracted many customers. The business model relied on customers committing to buy a certain number of items at regular club prices over a specified period. However, the advent of digital music and streaming services led to a decline in Columbia House's business. In 2005, Columbia House was acquired by BMG and transitioned into a mail-order DVD club. Despite this shift, the company continued to struggle and filed for bankruptcy in 2015.

They explore the significance of GSIs in the tech industry, share valuable insights on how to effectively collaborate with these complex organizations, and offer practical strategies for companies of all sizes to leverage GSIs in their go-to-market approach

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    Understanding GSIs: GSIs, or Global System Integrators, play a critical role in the IT industry, driving approximately 10% of the total market revenue. They work closely with enterprises to shape their digital transformation journeys.
    Investment in GSIs: To succeed with GSIs, companies must be prepared to make significant monetary and resource investments. The key is to pick the right GSI partner willing to collaborate and invest in a mutually beneficial partnership.

It's essential to establish relationships with senior personnel within the GSIs, align goals with their interests, and create joint offerings that add value to both parties.
    Executive Sponsorship: Building a strong relationship with an executive sponsor within the GSI can open doors to significant opportunities. These sponsors often have industry experience and connections that can benefit both companies.
    Building a GSI Team: Companies should assemble a team of experienced professionals who understand the complexities of working with GSIs. These team members should have global experience, industry knowledge, and the ability to build meaningful relationships.

    QUOTES

    Amina Karic & Zerina Mandzo, Topic: ‘Women in Information Technology Sector’

    As the Ban Ki-Moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations said: “Investing in women is not only the right thing to do, it is the smart thing to do.”

    For the Authority Partners, gender diversity is one of our business priorities. In AP, close to 30% are women. While this is an excellent number for the IT industry, there is still much to do. We are involved in IT girls, the Women mentorship network, Women’s Empowerment Principles program. In AP, do not differentiate between men and women in IT. We are welcoming all IT professionals.

    In this Podcast, Amina Karic, Vice President of Operations at AP, and Zerina Mandzo, Project Associate for IT Girls in B&H, are discussing reasons for the lack of women in the ICT sector, how do we shape one voice to fight stereotypes, how important is to engage in encouraging a change of attitude and behavior and more.

    This podcast is just a small step to inspire and empower more women choosing IT-related career paths.
