Episode #125: We Want To Live In Your Fridge with Steve Abrams + Rob Doyle of Harmon's Craft Brewing | Adjunct Series

Y'all already know that the BAOS team is heavy into non-alcoholic beverages, so clearly we were excited to hang out with the team behind Harmon's Craft Brewing. Co-Founders Steve and Rob (we were just missing Mike Cuch who was hit with internet issues due to the massive Ontario storm) hung out with Cee (who was in Miami) to chat about their beginnings founding Mill St. Brewing, why they started a new non-alcoholic beer project, their approach to the beer, the volume of liquid dumped to get to where they're at, their "flavour first" philosophy, why craft breweries need to become craft beverage companies, and their choice of styles for their flagship lineup. They crushed Harmon's three core brands - Lunchbox Lagered Ale, Half Day Hazy IPA and Jack Pine Pale Ale. Cheers!

Episode #115: What Does The Future of Craft Beer Look Like? with Tiffany Alexis (LiquidxHappiness) | Adjunct Series

Happy 2023, y'all! Cee and Tiff sat down to look back at the year in beer that was 2022, including their favourite breweries and beers, new discoveries, trends and more. They also did a deep dive into what the future of craft beer could look like in 2023 and beyond, with a focus on some of the numbers from the big boys, brewery mergers and buy-outs from 2022, the burgeoning new beverage segments, breweries moving into becoming beverage companies and changes in consumer drinking habits. Tiff got into Libra's Non-Alcoholic Pale Ale while Cee cracked a Foam Brewers x Link Up IPA from Vermont. Cheers!

NA Beer and Mocktails for Dry January

NA Beer and Mocktails for Dry January

We're here to help you make it through Dry January

We've made it through another year and here we are with our livers beaten senseless through the holiday celebrations.  If you're giving the body a break and trying to go dry we have some good news.  There are some pretty decent options available now to allow you to still have drink with your friends.

People always have questions about the Beer Guys drinking NA beers.  Hey, we like beer, but we know that too much of it is not a good thing.  We also like the taste of beer so having an occasional day, week, month where we ease up on the alcohol can be a good thing.  Speaking of just doing a day or so... we heard of Damp January this year.  That's kind of the principle we've been going by.  It can still be beneficial to take a break even if you don't go totally dry.

With that in mind... here are a few of our favs.

    NA Beers

    • Athletic Brewing - Most of what we've tried from Athletic is solid.  They are our favorite all around NA brewer
    • Partake - Another one that is mostly solid.
    • Bravus - Their Peanut Butter Dark is our single fav NA beer, and the one that would be most difficult for us to tell from an alcoholic version of the same style
    • Ceria - Only a couple offerings right now but they are tasty.  If you're in CA or CO, they offer NA brews infused with THC and CBD.  (Ceria was founded by Dr. Keith Villa, the creator of Blue Moon.)
    • One to pass on.... Hairless Dog.  We tried several of their offerings and did not find any we thought were palatable.

    NA Spirits

NA spirits have some catching up to do with NA beer.  The quality is just not there and they are VERY far off from tasting anything like what they are trying to replace.

Most brands do say they are meant to be mixers rather than drinking them straight.  We highly suggest you follow this guideline.  The "bite" and mouthfeel is the hard part here.  Some brands add pepper and capsaicin to try and mimic the heat, but it's still a long shot

We recently tried Drink Monday gin and whiskey.  They are some of the better ones we've tried, but still not sippers.  Nate made an NA Old Fashioned with them and it was a decent cocktail, but not really passable as an Old Fashioned.

BIG WINNER - Lyre's Italian Spritz is pretty t
