    Overcoming Temptation

    Overcoming Temptation

    This is the Podcast for Feb 18th 2024.

    This week Pastor Travis shares a message with us called Overcoming Temptation, Here are some of the Key scriptures from this sermon:

    Galatians 5:1-6 (NKJV)
    5 Stand[a] fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is [b]a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

    Galatians 4:8-11 (NK JV)
    8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. 9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? 10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. 11 I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.

    Galatians 2:16 (NKJV)
    16 knowing that a man is not [a]justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

    Eph. 5:18 (NLT), Gal. 6:16-26 (NKJV) Read, Acts 19:2-6 (NKJV), Jude 1:20 (NKJV),
    (John 7:37-38)

    Matthew 6:5-15 (NKJV)
    5  “And when you pray, you shall not be like the  [a] hypocrites. For they love to pray,
    standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be
    seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.  6  But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place;

    1 Kings 19:11-16

    Psalm 31:20 (NKJV)
    20  You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
    From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a  [ a ] pavilion
    From the strife of tongues.

    Psalm 32:7 (NKJV)
    7  You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble;
    You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

    John 1:18 (NLT)
    18  No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, [a]  is near to
    the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

    Romans 8:15 (NKJV)
    15  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received
    the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, [a]  Father.”

    Romans 1:25 NLT, Romans 1:21-23 NLT,  2 Peter 2:1 NLT,  Matthew 6:9,
    Malachi 1:11 NKJV,  Malachi 1:12-14,  Malachi 1:12-14,

    Let’s pray together
    9  In this manner, therefore, pray:
    Our Father in heaven,
    Hallowed be Your name.
    10  Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
    On earth as it is in heaven.
    11  Give us our daily bread this day.
    12  And forgive us our debts,
    As we forgive our debtors.
    13  And do not lead us into temptation,
    But deliver us from the evil one.
    [c] For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

    These are the key Scriptures from today's sermon.

    2 Peter 1:2-3 (NKJV)
    2  Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our
    Lord,  3  as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and
    godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

    Luke 7:36-50 (NKJV)
    36  Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s
    house and sat down to eat.  37  And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when
    she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask
    of fragrant oil,

    Luke 10:38-42 (NKJV)
    Mary and Martha Worship and Serve
    38  Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house.  39  And she had a sister called
    Mary, who also sat at  [a] Jesus’ feet and heard His word.  40  But Martha was
    distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not
    care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore, tell her to help me.”

    Advent Week 4 = Love

    Advent Week 4 = Love

    This week Pastor Travis brings us the fourth weeks teaching on Advent about Love.

    These are the four types of Love:
    Philio = Friendship
    Storge = Love for family
    Eros = Romantic love
    Agape = Unconditional

    1 John 4:7-8 (NLT)
    7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

    Luke 6:32-36 (NKJV)
    32 “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, [a]hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

    1 John 4:9-12 (NLT)
    9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

    Romans 5:7-8 (NLT), Romans 5:5-6 (NLT), Romans 5 8:11 (NLT).

    And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.” ’

    Genesis 17:17-20 (NLT)
    17 Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?” 18 So Abraham said to God, “May Ishmael live under your special blessing!” 19 But God replied, “No—Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac,[a] and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant. 20 As for Ishmael, I will bless him also, just as you have asked. Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.

Do you think we are stronger than he is? 23 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”[a]—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.

    Jude 10-12 (NKJV)
    10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12 These are [a]spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried [b]about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots;

    32 “God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. 33 Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.

    Acts 2:22 (NLT)
    22 “People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene[a] by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.

    Romans 8:11 (NLT)
    11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

    Who delights greatly in His commandments.

    Isaiah 62:4 (NKJV)
    4 You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,[b]
    Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;[c]

    For the Lord delights in you,

    Unashamed Pt.2

    Unashamed Pt.2

    This week Pastor Travis continues in the series titled Unashamed Pt. 2

    Acts 3:19-20 (NKJV)
    19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send [a]Jesus Christ, who was [b]preached to you before,

    Key scriptures,  Read Luke 15:1-32

    Luke 15: 8-10  The Parable of the Lost Coin
    8 “Or what woman, having ten silver [c]coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

    Romans 10:13 (NKJV)
    13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

    Ephesians Pt.8 (Learning to Fight)

    Ephesians Pt.8 (Learning to Fight)

    This week Pastor Travis Shares the final week of the series in The book of Ephesians Pt.8, Learning to Fight.

    Ephesians 6:1-2 (NKJV))
    6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise

    Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV)
    10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil.  Wiles = trickery

    Ephesians 6:11-15 (NKJV)
    11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [b]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

    Why do we need to put on the armor ?
    So we can stand against the trickery of the devil, and to withstand in the evil day.

    Raised to New Life

    Raised to New Life

    This week Pastor Travis brings us the message about the resurrection of Jesus.

    Read Matthew 28:1-10 (NLT)

    Romans 5:6-11 (NLT)
    6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

    1) God demonstrated His love by sending Christ to die for us !
    2) We are forgiven by the blood of Christ !
    3) We are restored to God !

    God wants to and will Restore you !

    Galatians 5:22-23  (ESV)
    22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

    2 Cor 5:18-21 (NLT)
