    The Policy of Politics

    The Policy of Politics

Freethought Friends - Family, and sols new to the community, it is a privilege to share these messages of humanity with you; from the voices of the people.
Politics is a hard lined divisive subject. We have placed it in the hush zone with discussions of money, ethnic relations, & religion! We had the privilege to sit with the current and running politicians in North County San Diego Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson & Cipriano Vargas. What is politics to the citizens, is policy making to the politicians. The fact is whatever they call it, being on the fringes of it and being touched only by the legislated mandates.

Tired of the public charm without the insistence on public service. Both Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson & Cipriano Vargas shed their publicist, lawyer, and speech writers, for a heartfelt, warm, empowering conversation in the Policy of Politics; on a human level.

Pop out your ice tea fan next to the fireside, and join us for a chat. To understand why the hell we even need elected officials to govern a largely loving and caring society. What the different levels of politics mean to the hamlet, town, city, unincorporated, and what the federal level does to state. What ways we can tell the local and city representatives to truly represent our collective constituent votes. How in the hell we hold them accountable, and most importantly how we can invest as citizens and policy makers, in raising up the whole of the community.

Our hope is to see more conversations discussing the Politics of Policymaking take on this mantle. In order for such things to take place you’ve gotta be active in #HumanizingUs all. Fact is, Thoughts are free, revolution takes action; #BeRevolutionary.

*Guest voices: Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson is running for County Supervisor - District 5. Cipriano Vargas is running for Vista City Mayor. Please do your due diligence on the persons you feel would best represent your vote. This was a human conversation about policy making involving the voices of those that can best articulate; tis all!

Thank you to @prmtvsls for the intro to the pod, could use some work; but it’ll do! Asett for the championing art giving the right light to both our guests. Venus Johnson @VenusJohnson for enlightening us: politics is for dummies, policy making is for humanity.

Important thank you to Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson & Cipriano Vargas for braving the public space of conversation and finding the comfortability and safety to speak from the heart, and not the podium.

To the listeners; it is our privilege to offer up the voices of community on this #soapboxnmic If your voice through art or other needs to speak to humanity. We are here. Be blessed, and share some humanity.

Greg Anglea - CEO, Interfaith Community Services

Greg Anglea - CEO, Interfaith Community Services

“It often takes people a lot of support and really deciding they are going to ask for help, which is a very difficult thing. Most of us don’t want to do that. So when somebody does do that, and they come through our doors and we reach out to them here on the streets of San Marcos…we really want to find out where they are at and help them move forward in the most caring and compassionate and dignified way possible.” - Greg Anglea, CEO of Interfaith Community Services

Greg’s career has been devoted to helping others.  After graduating with a B.A. in political science from University of California, San Diego in 2003, he worked at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at the University of San Diego.  In 2006, he joined Interfaith Community Services as the Volunteer Coordinator and Faith Liaison, and went on to serve as the Director of Development for five years.  In 2011, he moved to California State University San Marcos as the Director of Major Gifts, building community support for a regional guaranteed-admission program that provides a path to college for low-income, under-served youth.

Greg returned as Interfaith’s Chief Executive Officer in May 2014, leading an inclusive Strategic Visioning process that returned ownership of Interfaith Community Services to its many stakeholders and produced a clear vision for the future of the organization.  That vision supported the creation of the Hawthorne Veteran and Family Resource Center, a recuperative care program for homeless exiting hospitals; the launch of a new regional system of care for all persons experiencing homelessness, bringing together more than 30 community agencies in partnership; the opening of the Haven House Year-Round Emergency Shelter, North County’s first year-round emergency homeless shelter for both men and women; and the launch of Recovery & Wellness programs to address addiction and mental health issues.

Greg is the Immediate Past Board President of the Alliance for Regional Solutions, Board Member of the Regional Task Force on the Homeless, Co Chair of the North County Live Well Leadership Team, and Immediate Past President of the North County Philanthropy Council.

He received his M.A. degree in Leadership and Non-Profit Management from University of San Diego in 2009.  He lives in Escondido with his wife and two daughters, and when not at Interfaith, he can usually be found playing in a park with his kids or trying not to burn food in his kitchen.
