    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • It’s important to give people a long runway, opportunities to fail, and safety to learn.
    • Consider that the successes you have are often because of the failures you have experienced along the way.
    • It can be beneficial to seek out parallel opportunities, use labs, and test environments. Allow people to make discoveries that happen in parallel with work or in spaces with no negative client impact.
    • A.I. in the data space is helping to reveal connections or implications that previously may have been missed in supporting or debunking assumptions; it provides a totally different lens to view the world.
    • The exponential growth in technology is leading to a labor shortage… we have to build this talent.

iVenture Solutions is an IT solutions service provider that drives resolution and inspires change by proactively resolving IT, cloud, and cybersecurity challenges. Under Gray’s 23 years of leadership, iVenture Solutions grew from a spare bedroom over two decades ago and transformed into a nationally acclaimed managed services provider, deeply committed to solving IT challenges with excellence. Krystalynn Williams, LMFT - Founder & CEO of Krystal Clear Mind

Krystalynn Williams, LMFT - Founder & CEO of Krystal Clear Mind

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • Self-care is not selfish. It makes us better so we can be better for others.
    • Just like in an airplane, we need to “put our masks on first”.
    • We receive communication based on our own experiences. Considering other’s perspectives can be helpful in bringing people into alignment, feeling heard, and improving relationships.
    • Asking what type of support our moms need can help to create a space for them to share their needs and be heard.
    • High-fives are not enough. Listening and asking questions will help bring clarity to the types of support moms need.

Krystalynn’s experience in providing mental health services to low-income families with children exhibiting at-risk behaviors helped shift her focus to the center of the family: the wellness of the mother (and parents). She believes the best way to offer quality love and care to others is to serve from a full cup. Krystalynn continues to serve her community by participating as a guest panelist/co-host for speaking engagements and often volunteering at community and faith-based groups. Krystalynn holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco; specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Gary Ross - President of Inside Comms & Communications Expert

Gary Ross - President of Inside Comms & Communications Expert

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    - The three golden rules of communication are:

    1. Everything communicates, even not communicating is communicating
    2. Know your audience. Know what motivates them and how they like to get their communication
    3. Engage the power of storytelling

    - Communication goes wrong when there is a misalignment between the tactics used to communicate the objective of the communication. Avoid going straight to the tactic of communication and think about it more strategically.

    - People need to know what you want them to know, feel, and do.

    - We can communicate internally to an organization, but we need to be prepared for that information to eventually go public.

    - During critical incident communications leaders should:

    • Tell the truth
    • Be forthcoming
    • If they don’t have the answer, it’s okay to say they don’t know but you are working to get the answer
    • Ensure they are communicating with their own people so they know what the organization’s response is and that they are being taken care of
    • Be prepared beforehand, do drills, have a core crisis communication group that includes the CEO, and have a plan
    • Just do the right thing

Prior to his training, coaching, and consulting work, Gary led communications departments at CDW, Hyatt Hotels, and Fortune Brands. Before joining the corporate communications profession, he worked as a reporter and anchor for WCBD-TV in Charleston, SC, where he was nominated for an Emmy Award in investigative journalism, traveled overseas with the U.S. military, and reported from the eye of Category Four Hurricane Hugo.

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • The future of work, I think, is more around the autonomous worker. The Autonomous worker aspires to have a work-life free of restrictions over time, of choice, or locations
    • You find your joy in what you impact. How are you making an impact on the people you are with every day? Why can’t we just do good work for great people who want to do great things?
    • When we start to think globally, we can actually make our local businesses better. When we start to consider the global movement of talent, knowledge, and learning, the diversity of skills just makes us better.
    • When we think we are doing enough listening as leaders, it’s a sign that we probably are not listening enough.

She helps business professionals create an impact so they can love every Monday morning again! She is an inspirational coach, trainer, and epic storyteller who delivers transformative learning experiences for her global client base. She believes that the heart of every successful business is the leaders who inspire courage.

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • Helping others succeed will help with your own success. We need the support of others to move up in organizations and we need to have that outward perspective if we want to be successful at leveling up more rapidly.
    • The higher up you go, the less in touch you are with how things really happen - You will begin to lack the domain knowledge and the further up in an organization you go, the more diluted information becomes from reality.
    • Oftentimes, the people who have come through the organization organically lack certain skills because the company doesn’t need them or hasn’t needed them. The skills that these companies need are not in-house anymore. Now we have so much change that’s on the forefront that companies are in significant turmoil on how to adapt and adjust.
    • You make more money when you move from being paid for what you do to being paid for what you know. That’s a game-changer from a career perspective.
    • Take big risks. Too many people play it safe. Too many people feel like the control is not theirs. When you marry up a high risk tolerance with the accountability of “I’m going to be the one that’s in control”, it’s a game changer, and everyone should learn that earlier in their career.
    • The biggest thing holding people back is their perspective. Change your perspective and show up differently because oftentimes the game you’re playing isn’t the game you need to be playing to level up.

Chris Hansen - Executive Director of Time on the Water 501(c)(3)

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • Not everything needs to be addressed right now. Deal with things when it's most appropriate.

    • Don’t feel bad about setting boundaries and directing people because if you can control your time, your days and focus can be better.

Dr. Eric Recker - Recovering Triathlete, Dentist, & Founder of #WINtheNOW

Dr. Eric Recker - Recovering Triathlete, Dentist, & Founder of #WINtheNOW

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • An “Epidemic of Distraction” is leading to less-than-optimal performance levels and a lack of presence at work and with our families.
    • Time blocking can help us be more present
    • Break your moments into wins. Think what is the “win” in this “now”, then move on to the win in the next “now”
    • We always have another chance right ahead of us to “win the now”.
    • In order to effectively take care of your team, you have to be selfish in some things.
    • Write down what success looks like to you. Are you doing things that are aligned with your success? Revisit the exercise because things six months from now might not be aligned with what success looks like then.

Eric has worn a lot of hats. As a husband, father, dentist, elite success coach, pilot, speaker, author, mountain climber, and recovering triathlete, he has pushed his life to the limit and discovered that what he was searching for wasn’t at the top of the mountain.

Today... in addition to running a thriving dental practice he loves... Eric is committed to helping people learn to #WINtheNOW and discover the life they were meant to live through his talks and coaching. As a speaker, he offers stories and strategies that equip audiences to live with hope, to have a plan, and to believe that good days are ahead!

Eric, his wife Amy, and their two kids proudly live in a small town in Iowa.

Laura Walls - Founder of Innovative Oral Solutions & MyMouthWorks

Laura Walls - Founder of Innovative Oral Solutions & MyMouthWorks

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • We all should be breathing through our noses.
    • Airway volume, oxygen exchange, and symmetry are important for development, performance, quality of life, heart health, and circulation.
    • The tongue forms the palate; therefore, we should be resting our tongue against the roof of our mouth.
    • Men typically have a higher breathing velocity and space than females when measured by peak nasal inspiratory flow.
    • Studies show that CPAP only has a 30-60% success rate. The airway should first be open, prepared, and have the correct tongue posture so that a CPAP machine can work. Myofunctional therapy should come first.
    • Breathing can affect attention and focus, social and sensory dysregulation, depression and anxiety, snoring, and sleep apnea.

    • Always having time for someone’s personal or business issues is important for fostering a culture of care. People’s issues are real; no matter what you think about them, it is real to them.

Greg Kogler - Former Police Executive, former SWAT Commander, & Regional Director of Law Enforcement Relations in Tech

Greg Kogler - Former Police Executive, former SWAT Commander, & Regional Director of Law Enforcement Relations in Tech

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • The value of the challenging times is that they teach you things that the good times do not or cannot teach you. Become comfortable with the uncomfortable things you are asked to do. Being uncomfortable does not necessarily mean you are not prepared; it might simply mean you are being exposed to a new experience to which you can apply your existing skills.
    • In the midst of urgency, there is always time, even a little bit of time, to think through things.
    • If you see yourself as a leader who can advance the mission of the organization, while bringing the men and women who work in it along with you, most of the decisions you might make are not going to necessarily be good for you. These types of decisions will put more on your “plate”, so you have to learn how to “manage your plate”.
    • Take time to develop relationships with your people, even the people you don’t necessarily like, and let them know you, appropriately, as well as you can. These relational interactions help leaders start to develop trust and provide insights into how most effectively communicate with them.
    • It is your character that carries you through difficult decision-making, crisis decision-making, and complicated moments in personal or organizational life; “…it’s your character and reputation, not your knowledge and your skill.”
    • Reflect on your experiences; ‘there is a big difference between being involved in events in life… and having the wisdom and knowledge that comes from reflected experience.’

Greg began his professional life in the United States Marine Corps. Greg served for six years and was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and in support of Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. Greg left the Marines after six years and spent several years working in the fire service before beginning a 25-year career in law enforcement.

Greg worked for several small and large agencies and ultimately served on the executive staff for two organizations. Greg pursued and obtained a B.A. in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration. During his career, he served in a wide variety of assignments and routinely worked with both public and private organizations at all levels of government. Greg was a member of the California Police Chiefs Association and was a committee member for both the Training sub-committee and the Legislative Committee.

Greg retired from law enforcement in 2022 and joined the private sector where he works as the Regional Director for Law Enforcement Relations for a California-based Technology company. Greg is a graduate of the 259th session of the FBI National Academy and remains active in his local chapter.

Greg has been married for 34 years, has three adult children who are also married, and is the proud “Pop Pop” to three grandchildren. He is active in his local church, volunteers in his community, and enjoys projects around the home and helping his neighbors.

Dr. Robert Marcus - Dental Practice Management Coach, Speaker, and Trainer

Dr. Robert Marcus - Dental Practice Management Coach, Speaker, and Trainer

Dr. Marcus provides insights into how he coaches dental practices to help owner dentists and their teams improve their performance, increase leadership effectiveness, and enhance their capacity for growth. To connect with Dr. Marcus, please visit: https://www.bobmarcusdmd.com/

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

    • Effective dental office coaching goes beyond focusing solely on production, collection, and new patients, which are the typical go-to’s, and dives levels deeper to find out what behaviors and practices are affecting the numbers, such as financial management, recall, the periodontal program, and treatment planning.
    • It’s not what is said, it’s who says it. The dentist should be having crucial conversations with patients because it is the dentist who brings credibility and expertise to the conversation.
    • Dental technology has progressed significantly in the past decades, it is expensive, and it improves patient care while compressing dental care timelines.
    • Maintaining a sense of self outside of being a dentist or a business owner is important for us to help maintain our sense of self when the professional and business portions of our life are gone. Find enjoyment outside of work.
    • Dentists fill three primary roles as professionals, Dentist, doctor, and leader, and all three need to be strong.
    • If you’re a person who often says, “I’m so busy!” when people ask how you’re doing, you have a problem. Try saying “fantastic!” instead and follow up with an open-ended question

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

Josh Oqueli - High-performance Residential Architect & Founder of Bonsai Design+ Build

Josh Oqueli - High-performance Residential Architect & Founder of Bonsai Design+ Build

Josh Oqueli, a California native, moved to Colorado for high school and later decided to join the United States Marine Corps to pursue his long-term goals and explore the world. During his deployment in Zaragoza, Spain, he discovered his passion for architecture while visiting Antonio Gaudi's Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Inspired by Gaudi, Josh realized that to create exceptional architecture, he needed to be involved in both the design and construction processes. With a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver, he became an NCARB certified Architect, registered in Colorado. He also holds a Class-C Construction license in the City and County of Denver.

In 2013, Josh founded Bonsai Design + Build, an Architect-Led Design + Build firm that combines architecture and construction to focus on high-performance and sustainable architecture. By blurring the lines between design and construction, they offer cost-transparent design options early in the project, ensuring predictability and controlling budgets from the conceptual phase. Clients seek them out for energy-efficient and comfortable buildings delivered within reliable and effective budgets.

Bonsai Design + Build has been featured in Home Builders Digest 19 Best Residential Architects in Colorado2023 Best of Mile High Top 3 Architect Firms, and DenverArchitects.org.

In his spare time, Josh trains for marathons. He ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC last year and is preparing for the Portland, Maine Marathon this year.

Lance Pitlick - Former NHL Hockey Player and Career Entrepreneur

Lance Pitlick - Former NHL Hockey Player and Career Entrepreneur

In this episode of the Performance Collective™ Podcast, Dr. Sinclair interviews the former professional NHL hockey player, hockey coach, and career entrepreneur, Lance Pitlick.

    SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

    • Short sprints of hard and focused work can put you ahead of others in a relatively short period of time. Lance did this when he taught himself to stickhandle left-handed in 90 days.
    • Set a goal, build a system to accomplish your goal, and get to work.
    • We have to maximize our effectiveness in the short time we have. Use data to understand the true scope of the situation.

Lance was born in Minnesota, started playing youth hockey in 1986, played hockey for the University of Minnesota, and was drafted into the NHL in the 9th Round (180th Overall) to the Minnesota North Stars, and played 1st NHL Game at 27 Years Old. Lance had a 12-year professional hockey career that spanned 393 NHL Games as he played with the Ottawa Senators and the Florida Panthers.

Following his hockey career, Lance coached high school hockey for 17 years and retired as a Level 5 USA Hockey Master Coach. In 2009 Lance started providing private off-Ice stickhandling, passing, and shooting lessons with Pitlick Off-Ice Stickhandling and Shooting Training (sweethockeycoach.com). Additionally, Lance invented SweetHands Stick Handling and was the Trainer and Founder of Snipers Edge Hockey, which he sold in 2018.

In 2011, Lance launched Online Hockey Training.com (onlinehockeytraining.com), which houses the world's largest database of off-Ice stickhandling, passing, and shooting drill videos. In 2016 Lance’s dedication to building exceptional stickhandling skills drove him to teach himself how to stickhandle, pass, and shoot with his left (opposite) hand.

In 2022, Lance launched the Hockey Journey Podcast, where he has produced over 100 episodes detailing stories of successful hockey players.

Lance’s life objective is to help as many hockey players as he can to reach their hockey dreams. Both of Lance’s sons have been drafted into the NHL.
