    Meet Adrian Catran

    Adrian has been the managing director of Twentymans (NZ’s oldest serving Funeral Home) since 1990. He has overseen and helped almost 10,000 persons in that time.

    Adrian has implemented huge development programs at Twentymans which included a new Chapel, The Thames on Kirkwood Function Centre, the installation of a human cremator at Thames Valley Crematory and purpose-built pet cremator at Forever Pets.

    Adrian is a proud Thamesite, with family connections ranging back to the 1870’s, and whilst living in Thames has been heavily involved in the Community as a Justice of the Peace, involved in Local Government for some 21 years, plus established The Place at the Table Trust to provide a free Christmas community lunch for the past 10 years on Christmas Day. 

    Adrian is also currently the Patron for the Pipes and Drums of Thames Valley. In 2021 Adrian was appointed as the President of the Hauraki Justice of the Peace Association.

    After studying business at Victoria University of Wellington, Peter travelled and hitchhiked around New Zealand and the world for five years.

    He trained as a psychiatric nurse while studying psychology. After working as a nurse therapist in Palmerston North, he purchased a half-share in a furniture manufacturing business in Wellington, where he married and had two sons.

    After his first son was born, he took six months off to be a house-husband and during that time he bought a computer and taught himself to program.

    For four years, Peter volunteered at Lifeline as a telephone counsellor and also managed a hospital.

    For around seven years, he was a paddler in the waka (Ngā Toki Matawhaorua).

    Peter currently owns a bookshop and aspires to be a politician.

    Len is a founder member and one of the first trustees of Creative Mercury Bay. He has been involved in planning many cultural events in the Coromandel over the last six years, including the Tuia Stage, which involved around 150 musicians, poets, storytellers and performers from across the Coromandel Peninsula.

    Len is a musician, songwriter, audio technician and event organiser. He also worked in the food industry for many years, starting his food ingredients and confectionery importing business, and winning the Bank of New Zealand “Best New Business Award” in 2000. 

    This year, Len is running for Thames-Coromandel district mayor.
