    Natural Born Killers (1994)

    Natural Born Killers (1994)

Can a movie that scandalized America in 1994 continue to shock us today? Not really, but Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers" still has a lot going for it: a perfectly composed cast, a kickass soundtrack and incredible chemistry between Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson.

With Quentin Tarantino's fingerprints all over it, "Natural Born Killers" spans everything from sensationalized murders to sweat lodges and somehow manages to effortlessly serve up a love story in the mix.

In this episode, the Shat Crew explores the movie's haphazard use of black-and-white shots that look like they came from a rowboat, why Blockbuster Video employees hated Oliver Stone, Dick Ebert's rules for mushrooms, how artists change when they're clean and why all bald men should shave their heads.

    067 // Vincent Prenger ❤️ The Doors // Duimpjeworstelen

'Into the world we're thrown. Like a dog without a bone.'

His other work includes Rango, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for which he received a Golden Globe as well as the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre.

Producer Barbara Morgan, spoke with Logan about his incredible journey on a panel at the Austin Film Festival.

    Platoon (1986)

    Platoon (1986)

Oliver Stone gave the '80s and '90s some of their greatest films, so it's about time Shat The Movie dove into his catalog. And what better introductory film than "Platoon," a movie that combined Stone's artistry and military experience in a brilliant reflection on the Vietnam War.

In this episode, Big D and Ash review the movie and the war through personal tales and family history. Gene digs into the social and racial aspects of the conflict, and the Shat Crew celebrates a knockout cast at its best.

Other topics include the definition of masculinity, how to tell combat veterans from glory thieves, and why "Forrest Gump" is overrated.

Fernando Sulichin: Producer of JFK Revisited and Flag Day

Fernando Sulichin: Producer of JFK Revisited and Flag Day

Acclaimed producer Fernando Sulichin has built his career by working with film giants such as Spike Lee, David Lynch, Sean Penn, and Oliver Stone. Now Fernando has two films debuting at the Cannes Film Festival.

Flag Day is directed by and stars Sean Penn, while JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass is the latest documentary from director Oliver Stone.

JFK Revisited is the follow-up to Stone's political thriller JFK (1991) about the John F Kennedy assassination. Using recently declassified archives – part of a congressional review sparked by the 1991 film – JFK Revisited sheds new light onto this seminal event in American history.

Fernando talks about his partnership with Stone and how he has gained the trust of high-profile figures such as Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela and Vladimir Putin. Fernando's strong passion for film comes through loud and clear and has him contemplating stepping behind the camera himself.

“It’s not about judgment, it’s about discovery.” - Fernando Sulichin
