On this episode of the Good Roads Podcast, Thomas and Jared speak with Dr. Nicholas Duck, an organizational psychologist and head of Opposite, a company that looks at human factors when approaching road safety.

So often the discussion of road safety and Vision Zero is centred on design. In this conversation, Nicholas explains that if we take into account how people behave in a given space, we can better utilize and design spaces that are not only more functional for people, but safer as well.

Episode 256: Matthew 23 Part 1 Jesus Mirrored God’s Heart

Episode 256: Matthew 23 Part 1 Jesus Mirrored God’s Heart
For over three years Jesus has sparred with the religious leaders because they have tried to prove he was not the Messiah. They keep coming back for more after getting exposed to the people around them and Jesus continues to expose their true heart and motivation. They have finally been silenced after sending the “expert” in to question Jesus and Jesus turns the table on the Pharisees and religious leaders in Matthew 23. They have surrounded Jesus, along with a crowd, and Jesus begins to call them out for their hypocrisy and sin. It had to have been a shock for the crowd to hear him be so bold, especially standing in the midst of those who want him dead! The religious leaders were supposed to be the example of God and they were the total opposite. Jesus, who they rejected, was God in the flesh, and he mirrored the heart of God and gave us all an example to follow.

Don't Let ONE DAY Turn Into ONE YEAR!

Don't Let ONE DAY Turn Into ONE YEAR!

You know that moment when you look back and ask, “Where did the time go?” This episode is all about how to recognize when 1 day is starting to turn into 1 year.

In this episode, I talk about how to recognize when time is beginning to creep in. 3 weeks ago, I received an email that our beloved fitness studio where I teach and have so many loved members would be closing. We were all devastated. My ask of the members is to keep their momentum going. An object in motion stays in motion. The past 3 weeks have gifted me so much awareness and have reminded me about the pandemic and how things can change quickly without notice.

We are coming up on our 3 year anniversary of the start of the lock down and the pandemic. Can you remember what you desired during the slow down? I wanted to accomplish so much during those 2 weeks. And now looking back, I recognize that 2 weeks turned into 3 years.

What are you avoiding that is moving from 1 day to 1 year? DM me on Instagram with a ““ emoji and I wanna know what you think.

IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:

    • How to recognize when 1 day is starting to become 1 year.
    • An object in motion stays in motion. Keep going.
    • We are coming up on the 3 year anniversary of the start of the pandemic.
    • Ask yourself, “What did I receive from the last 3 years?”

158 - Delaying Gratification - The Marshmallow Test

Delayed gratification, also referred to as deferred gratification, is often difficult because we’re wired not just to seek pleasure but also to avoid pain. Two separate sections of your brain handle pleasure and pain, so this is where it can get challenging.

Delayed gratification is challenging. But there are several benefits to not succumbing to an immediate reward. Better health, improved self-worth and overall long-term success with goal setting are just a few.

Listen in as I share 4 ways to delay gratification.

151 - SOFTWARE UPDATE: Procrastination Kills

Procrastination is the most deceptive. It makes us complacent by telling us we are GOING to do the right thing, we're GOING to do it. It just justifies inactivity. It steals our time, our potential, our self esteem, and our peace of mind. When we put things off, they aggravate us.
