Welcome to another Family First Friday in honor of my Wall Street Journal bestselling book, the Family First Entrepreneur. In this episode, I discuss what not to do when it comes to starting an ecommerce business today.

There's just way too much content to consume online and a lot of it is outdated and worthless. To help you sort through the junk,  here are all the outdated ecommerce strategies and tips that no longer apply in 2023.

Stop Feeling Young & Outdated Sayings

Stop Feeling Young & Outdated Sayings
What age do we no longer feel young? Dangerous Dave talks about a survey that says 43 years old. However we don't feel old until we hit 52. Plus, some outdated sayings younger people don't know what they mean, including "back to the salt mines", "beating a dead horse" and "rule of thumb".

    Remember Names Hack & Outdated

    Remember Names Hack & Outdated
Have trouble remembering names? Us too, and Dangerous Dave talks about a hack making its way on TikTok right now where you tell the person bet you can't say your name three times really fast and they do. Plus, what things are so outdated you haven't even used them, at least for a while? Fax, newspaper, telegraph, landline phone all making the list.

This week is a three man show with Russ, Adam and myself, Nathan. We started catching up on new TV that drop this month and I was super excited to talk about Star Trek Discovery, but sadly I was the only one who saw it. We move on to more recommendations from Russ and me and eventually we do some last minute gaming discussion. Also Adam and Russ is pushing hard the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse so I'll need to get on that...

Anyway, enjoy this week's show and  take care!!!

    Is My Work Outdated?

    Is My Work Outdated?

Are your skills becoming obsolete? As a writer or director, business or ministry leader, it’s important to keep up with current trends and styles to stay current in your career.  Phil Cooke shares 5 ways to help you keep your skills relevant in a changing culture.

    1. Study the industry. Take the time to read trade magazines and see what other people are doing. In the film and television industry, lighting, shooting, directing and even editing styles change. It’s important to pay attention to the changes so you don’t become outdated in your work.

    1. Keep up with the tools. Make the changes to keep up with the digital age. You want the kind of tools to give you the freedom to do best what you creatively want to do.

    1. Learn from others better than you. Challenge yourself to work with people who are very good at what they do. Talk to them; network with them; ask them how they stay relevant. Don’t allow yourself to get in a bubble.

    1. Keep talented people around you. Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you in the work place and in your social sphere. Spend time with people who will encourage you to be your very best.

    1. Become an authority. Be an expert in what you do, whether it’s your style of directing, writing, or your project work with clients, push yourself to be the expert. Study, read, attend conferences – spend time focusing on the area where you want to be the best in the world. Challenge yourself to grow and avoid becoming obsolete in a changing environment.

Change happens whether we like it and whether we’re ready for it. It’s not about always knowing what the next big thing is, but it’s about positioning yourself so when it happens, your skills are up to speed and you’re ready.

Sorry for the long delays. Holidays are always hard for me because I am pulled in a multiple directions with family and friends obligation. Always... So here is our Thor Ragnarok Spoiler-cast, but before Russ and I get into our opinions about Marvel's recent Thor film, Adam, Jeremy, Russ and I do are usual on the fly chat about games we've been playing, shows we've been watching and projects I've been messing with like trying to get my Sega Saturn to go back online. --Nathan
