Mastering Your Unique Resilient Motherhood - Jessica Halvorsen

Mastering Your Unique Resilient Motherhood - Jessica Halvorsen

Tiffany and Jessica have a down-to-earth discussion on elevating motherhood through resilience. Enjoy this conversational interview with authentic insights and ideas for elevating your motherhood and raising resilient children.

    Meet Jessica Halvorsen,

My family is my world, and I realized quickly that fulfillment for me meant more than simply caring for them and the household todos.

Even though I have a degree in music (education) and accounting, a certificate in bridal consulting, have traveled to England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland on a Trafalgar Tour (more destinations on my bucket list), what I fell in love most with was giving mom entrepreneurs a boost in confidence and their ability to manage ALL. THE. THINGS. Building something that supported other moms and made a positive difference in their lives kept calling to me.

When I began online as a virtual assistant, I simply wanted to help. I still want that — to help other moms. I do that in five ways:

Taking tasks off your plate to help alleviate the pressure and keep your business running while you chase your kids with Mom Elevated Virtual Assistant Services.

Providing a central, safe space for you to connect and commiserate with others while learning from guest experts with the Mom Elevated Society.

Giving you go at your own speed options to implement in your busy calendar as you see fit – all about reducing overwhelm and making your life easier with Mom Elevated Resources and Products.

Lifting spirits with fun, light-hearted, and true gear that you can surround yourself with and don as a reminder to smile and keep on keepin’ on with the Mom Elevated Merchandise Store.

Helping you do one of these: define your content pillars, set your priorities and schedule, decide what to delegate, organize by talking through systems, or break down a single piece of content into many to repurpose in an hour with a Mom Elevated Consult Call.

I have been a single mom, a work-out-of-the-home mom, a stay-at-home mom, and now a work-from-home mom. All have their own set of unique struggles, but one thing remains the same — we are trying our best and support helps.

Truly, I am here to uplift, elevate, and relate to others and their stories.

Struggles are easier when they’re shared, and that’s simply what I’m creating with my services and offerings — a way to help share your struggles so they’re not all only on your shoulders. Welcome! I’m an open book, so ask away — and like the Full (and Fuller) House’s door, my inbox is ALWAYS open. I invite your feedback and look forward to having you jump aboard and join me on my ride of learning, growing, and elevating! https://momelevated.com/

    Meet Bess Part 3 --

    Meet Bess Part 3 --

Bess is back from rural Pennsylvania to share with us the rest of her story – at least up to current day Spring of 2022.

In her mid 20s and wise beyond her years Bess talks university, working through anxiety and panic attacks, therapy, finding the love of her life, managing relationships with still believing family members, and finding community with other out of the box thinkers in her small town.

Bess is an animal lover and her gentle, soft spoken connection with these non-humans offers some calm and serenity during these difficult days -- these days of discovery – these days of redefining the dreams of her youth – these days of finding freedom outside the confines of a religious order – these days of post pandemic uncertainty –  you’ll even her rooster crowing in the background!

    Damn! Bess is a badass!!

If you'd like to reach out to Bess, she’d love to chat with you. You can reach her at Bess569@yahoo.com.

Bess is learning how to use her voice. She is Speaking Up. And Speaking Out. And in so doing, she is Finding Freedom. On the Other Side. One Story at a Time.

    Meet Bess Part 1 --

    Meet Bess Part 1 --

Bess is in her mid 20s. She lives in a small rural Pennsylvania town. As you'd expect, she's been surrounded by conservative christians as far as the eye can see for the entirety of her life.

Raised in the church and educated in christian schools, Bess never fit in. Everyone around her was exactly the same – same beliefs, same hobbies, same skin color, same EVERYTHING!

Sure, she made attempts to fit in, but as a young teen, Bess determined she could no longer pretend to be someone she wasn't. This authenticity and independence created turmoil within her family of origin -- particularly in the relationship with her father. It wasn't appropriate for a young girl to ask questions and think for herself.

As an older teen, Bess and her dad came to an understanding that they'd just have to agree to disagree. However, as Bess' faith continued to erode, the conflict returned and this time not only with dad but  into the larger circle of Bess' immediate family.

Living authentically hasn't been easy.  Bess at times wishes she could just turn off her hunger for truth switch. But for some of us, this is impossible to do!!

We are learning how to use our voices. We’re Speaking Up. And Speaking Out. Finding our Voices. And in so doing, Finding Freedom. On the Other Side. One Story at a Time.

Enjoy Bess. She’s pretty f*&ing incredible!

Sharing Love Abundantly – Jolene Philo

Sharing Love Abundantly – Jolene Philo

“When we speak of children with special needs, we know there is great diversity in the needs and abilities… But nothing is more important than meeting the emotional need for love. Just as the child’s body craves food, so the child’s spirit craves love. When their love tanks are full, children respond more fully to the rest of life.”

On our last episode of the podcast, we heard from Dr. Gary Chapman about how the five love languages can strengthen your marriage and family life… especially when disability is involved. Today, Crystal is continuing the conversation about love languages with Jolene Philo, who co-authored Sharing Love Abundantly in Special Needs Families: The 5 Love Languages for Parents Raising Children with Disabilities with Dr. Gary Chapman. Drawing on her personal experience of raising a child with a life-threatening medical condition and 25 years of work as an educator collaborating with special education teachers to mainstream children in her elementary classroom, Jolene shares excellent advice for strengthening special needs families. Listen in for practical examples of how to fill the love tanks of your loved ones!

*Joni and Friends was founded in 1979 by Joni Eareckson Tada who in a diving accident was left a quadriplegic at 17 years old. Ministry began as Tada, joined by friends around her kitchen table, responded to letters she received from people with disabilities in search of support. Over the past 40 years, the ministry has grown to serve thousands of people impacted by disability worldwide: Joni and Friends has delivered more than 150,000 wheelchairs and Bibles through Wheels for the World and provided Christian care to 63,000 special needs family members through Family Retreats. The organization also equips individuals and churches with disability ministry training and provides higher education courses through the Christian Institute on Disability. The 5 Love Languages for Parents Raising Children with Special Needs – Dr. Gary Chapman

“The demands of caring for children who have medical conditions, developmental or cognitive delays, disabilities, behavior issues, are on the autism spectrum, or have other special needs can stress marriages to their breaking point. That’s the bad news. The good news is that care giving parents who know about and implement the love languages say they are a simple and effective way of filling a spouse’s love tank and reinforcing the glue that bonds them together.”

    • Dr. Gary Chapman

Raising kids is daunting but raising children with special needs often brings a new set of challenges. With days regularly filled with doctor’s appointments, meetings with teachers, handling outside caregivers and therapists, and caring for other children, parents can quickly find themselves depleted and their marriages strained.

But there is hope! Today on the podcast, Crystal is welcoming Dr. Gary Chapman, best-selling author and counselor who developed the 5 Love Languages. Dr. Chapman has counseled numerous parents of children with disabilities, and is sharing how the 5 love languages can help strengthen your family life, whatever your needs. Listen to his warm advice for protecting your marriage, discovering the love language of each of your children, and showing love to every member of your family even when time, money, and energy is limited. Don’t miss this insightful conversation!
