    Reimagining How We Serve Customers

    Reimagining How We Serve Customers

#64: 2020 is forcing us to innovate, right? Are you going far enough? Too many organizations I'm interacting with are talking short term fixes rather than reimagining how they interact with customers or how they package their product or services. I wanted to share a few examples from our firm as well as our tree guy and AC repair service. Yes, I'm talking innovation with the tree guy!

The Ten People I'm Listening to Most (Part 1)

The Ten People I'm Listening to Most (Part 1)

#57: Who are the ten people I'm actively seeking out and listening to the most right now? These are people whose insight, experience, and wisdom I've found to be valuable and worthy of my time over and over again. I'm reading their books, watching their videos, following them on social media, and listening to them. I divided the list into two episodes so I could spend a couple minutes describing each person and why they're on the list. In this episode I review numbers 6-10 on the list. Subscribe so you don't miss the next episode with numbers 1-5.

DTL 045: Alignment, Radar, and Urgency

DTL 045: Alignment, Radar, and Urgency

This week I want to talk about three things that are on my mind after leaving a meeting with 200 healthcare leaders in Florida. Those three are alignment, your radar, and balancing empathy and urgency. I often find myself coaching senior leaders about these topics and in this episode I share what I've learned and share with them.

DTL 042: What's your personal brand and how are you managing it?

DTL 042: What's your personal brand and how are you managing it?

What's your brand inside your company? What parts of your brand are working for you and what parts of it aren't? How do you discover what your brand is? And how do you manage it? In this week's episode I share the experience we had helping parts of a major automobile manufacturer discover their brands in the company and then what happened when we revealed our findings to the CEO. Hope you enjoy!

DTL 031: How do you help someone change?

DTL 031: How do you help someone change?

Is there anyone in your life who you would like to see change or improve? Pretty much everyone, right?! Some people we know could benefit from making major changes while it's more about minor improvements for others. So, how do you help people make those changes?

In episode 31, I share what I've learned works best in helping others change. It might be an employee, a boss, a spouse, a child, or a friend. Most of us interact with the people around us in a way that discourages, rather than accelerates, the change that's needed.

Buckle up for some passion in this show... about Texas, Arizona, yard work, the Democratic Party presidential debates, and a baby learning to walk! I can't wait to hear your feedback.

DTL 030: How Much Time Do You Spend Creating?

DTL 030: How Much Time Do You Spend Creating?

In this week's episode I dig into two words and having you evaluate how much time you spend doing each of them: consuming and creating. The most successful manage what they consume and how much time and energy they put into it. They spend most of their time creating.

Episode 30 comes after I went off the grid for most of the last month. I explain why in the podcast. We're back into weekly shows starting now.

DTL 026: My Best & Worst Bosses

DTL 026: My Best & Worst Bosses

In Episode 26 of the Decide to Lead podcast I introduce you to two different leaders I've worked for in my career. One made the list of worst leaders I've known and the other made the list of best leaders. What did they do differently? That's what I want to share so we all can avoid doing what my worst boss ever did and we can duplicate what one of my best bosses did.

I'd encourage you to do the same thing. Make the same list. I find it helpful to define exactly what made a former boss exceptional or tough to work for - so we can compare our leadership style and skills to theirs and learn from their examples.

DTL 019: Trying to Do Too Much Almost Got Me Fired

DTL 019: Trying to Do Too Much Almost Got Me Fired

I can't take it anymore! I'm running into leaders everywhere who think the more "stuff" they take on the more value they're supposedly bringing to their organization. It's a trap!! Great leaders are able to focus and simplify. They take all the things we could be doing and focus their team on just a few things and then execute, execute, execute! In episode of Decide to Lead I share a story or when trying to get a ton done almost crushed me. Show notes are at http://www.russhill..com/019. Subscribe to the podcast in whatever app you're using to listen! Btw, thanks for listening. It means a ton to me.

DTL 018: Group chat on leadership trends of 2019

DTL 018: Group chat on leadership trends of 2019

This week it's a group chat about leadership trends we're seeing at the beginning of 2019. Employee retention, well-being, the use of casual videos by leaders, and even the Chick-fil-A drive thru make the topic list. Make sure you subscribe to the weekly show and check out the show notes at http://www.russhill.com/018

He says the goal should not be getting more stuff done but rather to get the right stuff done. In episode 16 Russ Hill interviews the New York Times best-selling author of Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. Leave a review on Apple Podcasts or iTunes if you haven't already!
