Uncannuary: Guyver: Dark Hero and Rebel Moon

Uncannuary: Guyver: Dark Hero and Rebel Moon

It’s January, so that means it’s time for the AIPT Movies podcast’s “Uncannuary” series! Where we cover movies based on comic books or original ideas with similarly “superhuman” characters! In this week’s episode, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss the martial arts/creature FX direct-to-video classic, Guyver: Dark Hero!

Some of the greatest laser-graffiti you’ve ever seen! A pulsating neck wound! Squibs! Theme music that will live in your brain for days after watching! Ancient alien lore that almost makes Ridley Scott’s Prometheus look like a more expensive remake with fewer jump kicks! A borderline miracle of low-budget cinema filled with charm and glorious fight choreography! One of the original “soft reboots,” packed with incredible creature FX - including the stunning Guyver suit - all brought to you by FX legend and director Steve Wang! Are you currently surrounded by people who are secretly giant monsters called Zoanoids? This movie probably won’t help you confirm, but it can’t hurt to try!

In addition, Matt shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Leave the World Behind and Saltburn, while Alex does the same for Ferrari, Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Instagram and Twitter @ActionHarris. Matt is a terrific artist that you can find on Instagram @no_wheres_ville. Tim can’t be found on social media because he doesn’t exist. If you have any questions or suggestions for the AIPT Movies crew, they can be reached at aiptmoviespod@gmail.com, or you can find them on Twitter @AIPTmoviesPod.

Theme song is “We Got it Goin On” by Cobra Man.

An excerpt from Ep. 123 of the Fake Nerd Podcast, this is just our review of Aquaman - written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall, directed by James Wan.

Ryan, Sparkz, Ben, and Brandon came together in 2018 on the podcast to give their fresh takes on Aquaman, the first solo outing for Momoa's character in the DCEU. You can listen to their first impressions here thanks to the Fake Nerd Archive!

Insidious: The Red Door Spoiler Free Review, 'Insidious' Films Ranked

Insidious: The Red Door Spoiler Free Review, 'Insidious' Films Ranked

In 2010 James Wan's 'Insidious' shocked movie theaters across the world with one of the most creative and downright terrifying horror films EVER! Now 13 years later Patrick Wilson directs and stars in the 5th installment to the Insidious franchise, Insidious: The Red Door. We cover Insidious 5 in a spoiler free review, and take you through the return of our beloved Lamberts, but even better... The Further! Oh, and Darth Maul, maybe... aka Lipstick Demon! (shown in trailers).

We then cover Insidious (2010), Insidious: Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and The Last Key, and then we give our Insidious films rankings including where The Red Door fits into this haunting universe!

We do spoiler the older films, so watch them first. And even if you never plan on listening to this but somehow stumbled upon it, please stop what you're doing and watch this incredible franchise. Insidious changed the trajectory of the horror film back in 2010, and for good reason! Insidious has one of the greatest stories ever told on the once silver screen, taking a ton of genre film tropes and absolutely turning them on their heads, repainting them, and having a blast throughout!

When the 33 violins cut through the air of my movie theater back in 2010, my life forever changed. I never wanted to leave the hellish purgatory that is The Further, I wanted to know more about the 'mannequins' and the other devilish inhabitants, and i loved and rooted for the Lamberts as if they were my own family. James Wan and Leigh Whannell crafted one of the greatest horror stories ever, please do yourself a favor and go get lost in this franchise and report back- I'd love to read your thoughts over a 5 star review!  But you may want to bring Tucker and Specs along with you, along with the infamous Elise Rainier played brilliantly by horror fan fave Lin Shaye!

Eat your heart out horror fans, but remember, they want what you have... life.

We stand with the writers and actors. #WGA and #SAGAFTRA strike.

    Episode 73 | Insidious (2010)

👺 Just in time for the new sequel coming out in July, we are revisiting the original Insidious. Step into the further with us as we discuss everything about James Wan's creepy, nightmare-fuelled haunted house/possession/astral-projection horror film, where we'll also talk about our own personal ghost stories we experienced growing up. We'll also choose which character we think was most deserving to die, so stick around until the end.

    Episode 52 The Conjuring (2013)

    Episode 52 The Conjuring (2013)

When there's something strange in your shitty, auction bought, ramshackle house, who you gonna call? 2 weirdos who call themselves "Demonologists" and no one thinks that's odd. Blockbuster Director James Wan brings us the haunted house thriller "The Conjuring" (2013) starring Vera Farmiga, Lili Taylor, Patrick Wilson and Ron Livingston. A truly scary film that kicked off a franchise, this one actually chills co-hosts Robert Lendrum and Jamie Roberts. We ask, does anyone think these guys are fakes? Would Christian faith make this film extra scary? Have we ever had a supernatural experience? Are all ghosts malicious or are there helpful ghosts? Why do demonologists keep so many creepy bobbleheads? Rob tells the story about how he almost put a stake through an imaginary prankster. Join us for the chiller by the river!
