The Fashion Designer: How Amanda Perna Went From Psychology Major to Fashion Designer

She's a wife, a mom, and one of the most talented fashion designers in south Florida. Amanda Perna started her career at Calvin Klein in New York; but, the neutral tones of CK didn't fit the bright, eclectic style she wanted to design. The admitted overachiever and Project Runway star cashed in her 401k and started her own line--the House of Perna. But, she didn't stop there. Her creations now include a little girl, another ready-to-wear line, and a surprise project she never even dreamed she'd accomplish. Listen to why Amanda Perna is one of the most creative people of Palm Beach...

Paris DJs Soundsystem and Musiques Impures present Adrian Quesada's Spring Reverb
    (MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com and MusiquesImpures.com) 2011-04-13

The Echocentrics is a new project of psychedelic, cinematic and dusty soul produced by Adrian Quesada of Brownout/Ocote Soul Sounds/Grupo Fantasma fame. Loads of spring reverb, psyched out farfisa organs and heavy drums are accented by beautiful vocals sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese by Tita Lima from Brazil and Natalia Clavier from Argentina. The album is out on Ubiquity Records. Grant Phabao, without any doubt the greatest reggae producer in the world today, has already two skanking remixes on their way... while Adrian Quesada is preparing on his side some remixes for Phabao's upcoming album with The Jays, Stepping up In Time. Something's happening here! We did this collaborative mix about Adrian Quesada with fellow blogger Nicolas Ragonneau of Musiques Impures fame, where he selected the album tracks and I completed with some rare stuff and remixes. Here it is right on for the album's release date (two days ago), and Nicolas has published an exclusive interview of Adrian on his blog to go along with this mix...

Martin Perna of Ocote Soul Sounds presents Bluefields Sound System : Afro-Nicaraguan music
    (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-09-02

Papa said do read up. Martin Perna, founder of the legendary Antibalas, now resides in Nicaragua, and when visiting us this summer in Paris, promised he'd find a way to send a selection of some Afro-Nicaraguan grooves to rock our earplugs. Less than a month my mailbox goes ding dong and soon I'm downloading music with the enthousiasm of a kid opening a christmas present. The package definitively delivers and we'll all be jumping and rocking to the pulse of Afro-Nicaraguan music from Bluefields, Nicaragua! It's music you won't hear on the radio coming from the heart of Central America, but not music you won't find on the internet... thanks to Paris DJs growing family of musicians, producers and DJs from all over the globe!! Martin Perna recently released a fantastic third album from his Afro-Latin project Ocote Soul Sounds and Adrian Quesada (on the Eighteen Street Lounge label) and should be touring in Europe early 2010...

    Tracklisting :
    01. Sabu El Cat Man - Monkey Point Girls
    02. Sabu El Cat Man - Live Your Life
    03. Mango Ghost - Fyah in Bluefields
    04. Rondon Orchestra - Lion Pon It
    05. Rondon Orchestra feat. Sabu El Cat Man - Tulululu
    06. Rondon Orchestra feat Kila B - Zion-O
