Behind the Scenes at CNBC with Becky Quick
Why 99% of Young Entrepreneurs are Playing the Game WRONG
Today's episode is all about advice I'd give to the young entrepreneur. 99% of people in today's society spend all their time trying to be better at things they're bad at. While its a good habit to try and round yourself out, as an entrepreneur you're going to want to triple-down on your STRENGTHS. You don't need to learn how to code, be a better public speaker, be a better salesman, etc. All you need to do is find your strength, hone it and go for it.

Today's episode is a throwback keynote from VidSummit 2018! The biggest vulnerability when building an audience is worrying about what’s in it for yourself. The reason I always win when I enter a new space is because I’m obsessed with what I can deliver for you … No matter whether you have 11 million followers or 47 followers or zero. Super important concept that a lot of entrepreneurs and influencers don’t understand … I expand on it more in this keynote.

Today's episode is a classic segment from GaryVeeTV! Everybody wants to be one of "the best" at their craft. To be the best though you need a different approach to break-through the thousands of other people who also want to be the best at what you do. I sat down with Josh York of Gym Guyz to talk about going the extra mile to reach those big goals we all have. We cover topics around mindset, leadership, and tactical actions you need to take to separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

Why It is NOT Time To Give Up On Your Dream | GVTV Classic
Today's episode is a classic moment from GaryVee TV. Many of us are actually taking the risk of chasing our dreams instead of living in the fear of judgment to go after them. For those people, especially the ones who have been at it for a while the question becomes is this not working, when should I consider doing something else? I had a really great conversation with a girl who started a clothing brand but has seen only small results of her efforts and wanted my take on if she should continue to pursue this passion, or if its time to something else.

Today's episode is classic "Tea With GaryVee" moment. Special guest, Joe Gatto from the "Impractical Jokers" and I had a fun conversation around failure. Joe shared his stories of being an "overnight success" and how it actually took years of persistence and failures to have his breakthrough moment. We both agreed that failure is a natural part of the process and you actually need to find the "fun in failure" to keep trying.

Discover today the many great traits that entrepreneurs all over the world possess. Join Rob as he discloses all the wonderful attributes millionaires, billionaires and successful people have which got them to where they are today. Rob discusses how curiosity, disruptive energy and self-belief are just some of the many traits a great entrepreneur has.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Curiosity is a trait of many entrepreneurs, especially billionaires. When you have conversations with millionaires or billionaires you may find that they are often asking you more questions than you are asking them. There is a perception that billionaires may be power-hungry or greedy but this is not always the case, they are often humble with a desire to learn.
- They disrupt. They go against social and cultural norms and are prepared to do things that most people would disagree with or would resist.
- Entrepreneurs have a burning desire, they have a passion and enthusiasm that never goes, despite the challenges that come their way.
- Great entrepreneurs know how to surround themselves with smart people. An entrepreneur tends to be a generalist and they will surround themselves with specialists. They don’t let their ego get in the way, they hire people that are good at what they do, they love to be around the very best as this inspires them.
- Many entrepreneurs can push through when times are hard. The harder it gets, the more committed they are to push through and stay in the game.
- Entrepreneurs have to have self-confidence and self-belief. When they start as an entrepreneur they are often not proven yet and there are no guarantees that they will succeed.
BEST MOMENTS
“They are often never satisfied and they keep pushing and moving forward.”
“They are seduced by the deal.”
“They handle fear.”
“Nothing is guaranteed as an entrepreneur.”

Huge Ted Talk: Sold His Co. for $22Million: Derek Sivers [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]
A wonderfully insightful episode today as Rob is joined by American writer, musician and entrepreneur Derek Sivers where they discuss why it is often best to amplify your quirks and weirdness as well as why generosity and the desire to have less in life can make you much happier.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- When it comes to having the courage to be disliked it is about developing a stance which is to amplify your quirks instead of downplaying them. Set yourself apart from the crowd at every step. It is deeper branding to express yourself loudly, rather than being generic. Amplify what is weird about you.
- If you are constantly coming up with new ideas every day, by definition you do not have time to execute on all of these ideas. On the contrary, if you have one idea and execute that idea well each and every day over a prolonged period of time, this is likely to be the more successful of all the ideas.
- There is a place for those ‘wow’ innovations out there, but the majority of successful businesses and entrepreneurs are just doing the humdrum work that has to be done. It is time to get rid of this notion that you need to be a big deal person in order to be successful.
- If you own a business you can afford to be generous. The businesses that stand out the most are the ones with the most generosity and that are doing more than is necessary. The businesses that we detest are the ones putting their own needs before their clients.
- The best thing you can do to get anything you want is to want less. Think about the minimum you need in life to be happy. Don’t deny yourself any pleasures, own wonderful things however don’t get too attached to them, understand that they can get taken away from you at any time.
BEST MOMENTS
“You will attract those that wish they would or could do the same.”
“They say the difference between genius and just smart is that the genius is the one that sees things that the rest of us can't see.”
“If you’re running a business you are already probably luckier than most people in the world, so you can afford to be generous.”
“Success is whatever makes you feel proud.”

RANT - Never Let ANYONE Tell You This (Not Even Me) [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]
If you’ve always dreamed of trying something new, starting up a new project or going in a different direction in life, and you’re struggling with people telling you you’ll never be successful...this is how to overcome it. Learn when the right time to start your business is and why it’s better to have tried and failed than have never tried at all.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Ignore people out there that are constantly telling you not to start new things. If you want to start new projects, you should go ahead and do it. Those who tell you the odds are not in your favour may be statistically correct, but they are emotionally wrong.
- If there is something you are wanting to do that you are enthusiastic about and is in alignment with your personal values then you should absolutely go ahead and check if it will work for you.
- Regardless of whether or not your product is deemed ‘successful’ once you have produced it, it is still a success that you even got it out there in the first place. It is better to regret something you have done than regret something you haven’t done.
- The time that is right for you is when you’re ready, not when the market was ready or when the opportunities were at their peak. You can only get into something when you decide to.
- If you are half-hearted about your projects, then it is very unlikely that you will get anywhere but when you know inside you that there is something that you are meant to do then you should go and do it, and do it well.
BEST MOMENTS
“The statistics are against you, but they’re against everyone else too.”
“If you look at all successful entrepreneurs, it is not their first business.”
“If it is right then you should do it, because it's hard.”
