"Pretendians" (Indigenous Frauds) in Academia | Jacqueline Keeler & Peter Boghossian

"Pretendians" (Indigenous Frauds) in Academia | Jacqueline Keeler & Peter Boghossian

There is an epidemic of primarily white people—and white women in particular—who are pretending to be Native Americans for professional gain. Dubbed “Pretendians,” these individuals are predominantly active in academia and hold tenured faculty positions or even department chairs.

To help make sense of this institutionally supported fraud, Peter Boghossian spoke with Jacqueline Keeler, a Native American author and journalist who’s an expert on the phenomena of Pretendians. Keeler names names and pulls no punches in this conversation.

In light of Peter's experience at Portland State University (PSU), he was only mildly surprised to hear Keeler’s report that three of its leading Indigenous Nations faculty are Pretendians: Ted Van Alst, Grace Dillon, and Judy Bluehorse Skelton.

    Discussion: Viewer Feedback

Watch the video of this conversation here.

Now that the first season of All Things Re-Considered has concluded, Peter Boghossian and Matt Thornton met to discuss viewer feedback. The vast majority of feedback has been positive, but a few criticisms are addressed: why Peter and Matt used Rachel Levine’s preferred pronouns, the “Kazoo Dilemma” (who is responsible for its inclusion and who performed the devil’s instrument), why we chose to examine NPR, if/how NPR could be fixed, the possibility that NPR “has always been this way,” what news we can trust, and the future of All Things Re-Considered.

We received several requests to release excerpts from the episodes that would be easier to share with friends than full videos. We think that’s a great idea, so individual show segments will be available over the next few weeks—just in time for lively discussions with friends and family throughout the holiday season.

Ep. 27 Bruce Pardy on Critical Theory

Ep. 27 Bruce Pardy on Critical Theory

Our guest this week is law professor Bruce Pardy, discussing his recent column in the Financial Post where he identifies Critical Theory as one of the causes of the current social upheaval.  Knowing the basics of Critical Theory will help you understand why it's often impossible to succeed by using reason and logic when arguing with the radicals.

Please remember to give this a good rating and review if you liked it, that really helps people find the show (apparently).

I spoke to acclaimed author and former academic James Lindsay about his involvement in the 'Grievance Studies Probe', which he led, and which demonstrated that so much of what passes as progressive academic thought is little more than fraudulent dogma. We discuss how and in what ways Social Justice Academia paints a false picture of society, and why and how it must be countered.

James is the author of a number of books, including 'How to Have Impossible Conversations', which he co-authored with Peter Boghossian, and 'Cynical Theories: How Activist Scholarship Made Everything About Race, Gender and Identity - and Why This Harms Everybody', which he co-wrote with Helen Pluckrose.

Impossible Conversations During Lockdown - Part Two

Impossible Conversations During Lockdown - Part Two

Dr. Peter Boghossian is a full time faculty member in the Department of Philosophy at Portland State University, an Affiliated Assistant Professor at Oregon Health Science University in the Department of General Internal Medicine, and a visiting fellow at Reason Foundation think tank. He’s an international speaker for the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Science and Reason and the Center for Inquiry, and has an extensive publication record across multiple domains of thought. His popular pieces have been featured in The New York Times, Scientific American, The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, The Spectator, City Journal, The American Mind, The Philosophers’ Magazine, the LA Times, National Review, USA Today, New Statesman, etc. He’s the creator of the Atheos app and his most recent book, with translations in Mandarin, Polish, German, Romanian, is How to Have Impossible Conversations.

This is part two of a two-part series. We discussed some concerns many have about being in an enclosed space with people for an extended period of time. Also, Peter gives us his take on how to handle impossible conversations during lockdown.

This series was very honest and personal. We discussed our current life situations and we both shared some of the experiences we've had during this weird experience. Peter gave me genuine advice on what can I do to make the best out of this experience, both for me and for my family.

I am really thankful with him for joining me to discuss what we consider an overlooked consequence of this crisis. Peter truly is a role model for me.

Interview with President of Ratio Christi on Social Justice, Critical Theory and Identity Politics

Interview with President of Ratio Christi on Social Justice, Critical Theory and Identity Politics

0010 - In this episode I interview Corey Miller, President of Ratio Christi, in advance of his upcoming discussion with atheist Professor Peter Boghossian here in Utah. On February 6 and 7, Dr. Miller and Dr. Boghossian will engage in four dialogues on four Utah campuses. The title of their dialogue is, "A Christian and an Atheist Unite Against the Death of Intellectual Diversity at the University: How Social Justice and Identity Politics are Negatively Impacting Culture and the University." In our interview Dr. Miller discusses how this discussion came about and why this topic is so important. He defines and gives the history of the "social justice" movement and contemporary critical theory and how these ideas are destroying the campus and the church.  For more info about the upcoming events in Utah go here - https://www.facebook.com/ratiochristi.utah
