Niambe McIntosh - Head of Peter Tosh Legacy & Brand on Cannabis Legalization and Justice System Reform

Niambe McIntosh - Head of Peter Tosh Legacy & Brand on Cannabis Legalization and Justice System Reform

As we take time to reflect on the work of Martin Luther King, Jr, we would like to share an encore of this important episode that discusses inequalities in the American justice system and social justice movements that are responding to it.

“What is it we need to do as a society to lift up our most vulnerable population?” asks Niambe McIntosh, daughter of Peter Tosh and fierce advocate for prison reform, cannabis legalization, and justice everywhere.

Peter Tosh is the legendary Grammy Award-winning reggae musician and, along with Bob Marley, founding member of The Wailers. Known for the passionate political and social messaging in his songs, Tosh was tragically killed during a home invasion in 1987 when Niambe was only five-years-old.

Today, Niambe is head of the Peter Tosh Legacy & Brand and founder of the Peter Tosh Foundation, where she carries on her father’s message and memory. In 2017, her brother Jawara was incarcerated for cannabis possession in New Jersey. After a brutal attack in prison led to Jawara’s death, Niambe threw herself into the world of prison reform.

Listen to the latest episode of All About Change as Niambe discusses preserving the legacy and work of her father, her passion for prison reform, and the necessity of legalizing cannabis nationwide.

    Simblified Half-Pints

    Simblified Half-Pints

Four fun things. Many random discussions.
So sometimes, we have a fun story, news story, fact or piece of trivia which we think is good Simblified fodder but not enough for a whole episode. So along came the idea of taking four of these and making them one episode!

Introducing Simblified Half Pints: A freshly brewed new format where your four hosts will each bring one fact or story (or whatever, really) to the table and then we yak about it for 10-15 minutes. With the usual Simblified detours of bad jokes, anecdotes, and perhaps something profound too!

In this inaugural episode we look at sparkling water, the FIFA World Cup, anchovies and mosquitoes - thankfully not all at once.

We hope you like this new format - let us know what you think. We plan to do this once a month.

Add one part news, one part bad jokes, one part Wikipedia research, one part cult references from spending too much time on the internet, one part Wodehouse quotes, and one part quality puns, and you get Simblified.
A weekly podcast to help you appear smarter, to an audience that knows no less! Your four hosts - Chuck, Naren, Srikeit, and Tony attempt to deconstruct topics with humor (conditions apply). Fans of the show have described it as "fun conversations with relatable folks", "irreverent humor", "the funniest thing to come out of Malad West" and "if I give you a good review will you please let me go".
Started in 2016 as a creative outlet, Simblified now has over 200 episodes, including some live ones, and some with guests who are much smarter than the hosts. Welcome to the world of Simblified!

Acclaimed drummer, musician and composer Santa Davis joins husband and wife duo Jules Williams and Alison Pothier for this episode of I BULIEVE.  Santa is a member of the band, Soul Syndicate and has recorded with fellow reggae legends like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in Bob Marley and the Wailers,  as well as Jimmy Cliff,  Big Mountain and Ziggy Marley to name a few.   He has also played with traditional artists such as Willie Nelson, Pink and Chaka Khan.

Join us as Santa shares his story of growing up in Kingston, Jamaica and his journey from a young boy in the drum corps to one of reggae's drumming legends.  Speaking about how his own history evolved alongside that of the reggae music genre, Santa also shares about the poignant moments that defined his life and career.  Dear friend of Peter Tosh, Santa was in the room the night Peter Tosh was shot and murdered.   Surviving on a miracle and a prayer,  Santa plays today with a bullet still lodged in his back.

A deeply soulful man, Santa's is a life well-lived and founded in faith, integrity and spiritual wisdom.  His passion for life and music is infectious.  An inspiration for all those 'choosing' their paths ... through the most challenging of circumstances.
