Episode 36: Awkwardness Runs in the Family

Episode 36: Awkwardness Runs in the Family

[TL;DR] Alyssa’s awkward awesome sister Kristen joins the podcast for some cringe stories - with many about cruises!

This episode kicks off with some stories of avoiding people while introducing Kristen, who shares some funny stories from work (at the popular Texa grocery chain). They then discuss the teacher they were chatting about before recording - what a silver fox…with a great personality!

The puppies are let out of the pound! Jamie has a small update from her past of playing with pound puppies in the ditch at recess. Alyssa & Kristen both have a weird word update, one describes your mom and the other describes birds...or maybe they both describe your mom bah doom tisss.

The ladies sail into some cruise stories where we find out about a lovely lady that had the hots about Alyssa! Kristen then goes on to share more hilarious awkward stories from the past - including the time EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HATED ALYSSA.

To close out, the ladies do a quick taste test - something spicy & something cold, but not as spicy as the beanie baby rap Alyssa drops for us! The beanie babies segway into grandparent collections, let us know what your grandparent collection was and if you still continue it. Will you wish upon a troll?

People, Pandemic and Hospitality : The art is not lost at El Gaucho

People, Pandemic and Hospitality : The art is not lost at El Gaucho

Seattle's El Gaucho Steakhouse is a long time upscale dining staple, or as they call it " fine dining of a bygone era".    The tuxedoed staff, the table side flambé'd desserts,  the dimly lit intimate seating, and the soft trickle of the piano keys set the stage for a luxurious dining experience that feels like you were transported right back into the nostalgically swanky rat pack era.    Theirs is a place for fancy celebration or to make an moment worthy of an occasion.

Such longevity of service and attention to detail has garnered them a high platform to speak to the art of hospitality and what truly matters most in it; the people.       From their family-like employee atmosphere to the level of attention they put into each guest experience, people are at the root of everything they do.    The art of hospitality is as important while dining for happy hour, an elegant milestone meal, or receiving a to-go box at home.

Listen to Anna Lee, El Gaucho Seattle's event director, speak to the core of hospitality for them and the challenging pivots made during a pandemic while launching the open of a moved restaurant location.    Hear the trials and survival that so many restaurants face(d) and the challenges to meet expectations for their guests.

El Gaucho has been a special part of my personal story for the last 10 years. An unusual symbol of celebrating life.  You'll hear some excerpts of a toast I gave during a celebration of a 10 year milestone, calling us to live life now-don't wait to celebrate occasions.     I encourage people to say the things that matter, notice the character traits that carry weight and share what we admire.

Thanks to El Gaucho and the Fire & Vine Hospitality Group for their collaboration in Galentine's Soirée 2022.    To see all the details of Galentine's and El Gaucho's generous participation, click the link HERE: https://www.wearesocialcreative.com/galentinesdaysoiree

S3E9: He'll Sing You A Song, He's The Piano Man - Matt Fetbrandt

S3E9: He'll Sing You A Song, He's The Piano Man - Matt Fetbrandt

Matt Fetbrandt a Berklee College of Music alum, and his musical path has taken him around the country directing different musicals, cabarets and concerts. He can be seen regularly either at Tramp Stamp Granny’s or the exclusive Hollywood club, San Vicente Bungalows Clubhouse. This was probably one of my favorite episodes to date, simply because it felt like a fire side chat with a fellow creative. We talked about our paths, why we do what we do, and Matt really opens up about performing full-time as a freelance entertainer.
