Major League pitching legend Roger Clemens got his start at Houston’s Spring Woods High School. He then attended San Jacinto Jr. College and went on to have a successful career as a University of Texas Longhorn. Clemens was the winning pitcher in the final game of the 1983 College World Series. 

Roger was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and one year later named Rookie of the Year. Clemens is a seven-time Cy Young Award winner and a twelve-time MLB All Star. He earned 354 wins, 4,672 strike-outs and two World Championship rings during his MLB career with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

Roger and his wife, Debbie, make their home in Houston. In 1992, the couple established the Roger Clemens Foundation which helps and supports children’s charities from all walks of life.

Baseball is a game about winning and losing...love is very similar.

Travis has been playing baseball since he was 4 1/2 years old. Born and raised in Southern California, he and his wife Kristen moved to Arizona in the Summer of 2016 to support Travis's recovery from Tommy John surgery. In 2018. Travis had a comeback year, ending the season with a 1.94 ERA in 78 innings pitched. They are embarking on his journey to hopefully one day reach the major leagues. 

In this episode I talk with Daniel Blair.  Daniel is a collegiate baseball pitcher.  We talk about how strength has helped him with his throwing velocity, and we dispel some myths about the weight room and its relation to pitching.

Bruce Pitcher, a dear friend of mine since the 7th grade, was a contestant on ABC's Extreme Weight Loss and dropped over 200lbs. After five years he's kept it off, helps others do the same, and is now coming out with a new book entitled Larger Than Life where he talks about how he overcame the scars of childhood abuse and his weight gain.

This week, we stagger down a path of wasted opportunities, and squandered goodwill, with a man who came from a very unstable background to be the best pitcher in his league at one point. He was well liked, and quiet, but that may have just been because he was a few too many pills to be any other way. You root for him, and he disappoints at every turn. It's a sad but hilarious tale of a big fall from grace, including maybe the strangest reason that an athlete has ever missed a game!!
