    Pitcher-Podcast #5

Roger Clemens, Former Major League Pitcher

He earned 354 wins, 4,672 strike-outs and two World Championship rings during his MLB career with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

Roger and his wife, Debbie, make their home in Houston. In 1992, the couple established the Roger Clemens Foundation which helps and supports children’s charities from all walks of life.

#135 - A Valium & Flatulence Cocktail - The Regrettableness of Lamarr Hoyt

#135 - A Valium & Flatulence Cocktail - The Regrettableness of Lamarr Hoyt

This week, we stagger down a path of wasted opportunities, and squandered goodwill, with a man who came from a very unstable background to be the best pitcher in his league at one point. He was well liked, and quiet, but that may have just been because he was a few too many pills to be any other way. You root for him, and he disappoints at every turn. It's a sad but hilarious tale of a big fall from grace, including maybe the strangest reason that an athlete has ever missed a game!!
Be abandoned by your parents, reach your goals, then get busted with drugs as many times as you possibly can with Lamarr Hoyt!!
Check us out, every Tuesday. We will continue to bring you the biggest idiots in sports history!

Jeff Jerina wraps up his conversation with former Major League baseball player (part 1 in Ep. 38) and current owner of BC Athletics, Brett Carroll.  Brett shares his personal testimony of when he trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Brett also talks about disciplines he’s practiced throughout his life to be successful and tips on remaining humble and abiding in the Lord,  Jeff Jerina shares his personal testimony of the circumstances that led to his saving faith in Jesus Christ.

    Key Points

    • Humble yourself before God allowing Him to work through you so your toll is not in vain
    • Knowing the Lord accepts you as you are frees you from the performance trap
    • Sometimes a simple pray asking the Holy Spirit to help you is enough.  Telling God you need Him in your life
    • As Christians we get to be part of the greatest story ever told - the Gospel of Jesus Christ
    • Trust and abide in the Lord
    • We’re not saved because we’re good but because God is good

    Key Points

    • God is telling us that He is going to take care of us
    • God gives us Milestone Memories
    • God is bigger than any moment in our life (my quote)
    • The game doesn’t teach you character it just reveals it
    • What we say to our kids as dads means a lot (good or bad)
    • Our ultimate model for maintaining a healthy relationship with our sons and daughters as fathers is that of God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son
    • Trust and abide in the Lord, John 15:5 to get the strength to maintain a healthy relationship with your son and / or daughter
    • To mend a broken relationship be humble, broken and contrite
    • The love of an early father is so key in experiencing the love of our Heavenly Father
