From Web2 to Web3 with Zsófi Major

Zsófi Major has had many roles over the years within the web2 space: project manager, COO, and business developer.
After business hours she volunteered within the Drupal community, bringing together developers from all over the world at conferences she organized.
After burning out from web development projects, unmanageable deadlines, and clients - she quit her job and decided to take a break and apply for roles she really wanted to do full-time - ones where she could be involved in community and event management.
She joined Parity’s DevRel team in March 2022 as a newbie in web3 and I’m happy to report she loves her job, for the first time in her life!

Next generation NFT projects with Irina Karagyaur

Next generation NFT projects with Irina Karagyaur

Polkadot is a blockchain network built to enable Web 3.0. Polkadot (DOT) uses the nominated proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, parachains and a relay chain to facilitate a more scalable blockchain ecosystem.

Irina explains the idea behind decentralization, where users control their data and markets prosper from network efficiency and security. Polkadot has the lowest total electricity consumption; it’s the second most sustainable blockchain platform.

The UN has been hosting COP conferences where climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority. Companies are looking to solve climate change problems, but it is also essential to look for ways to educate and be aware of the changes that can be made through every day actions. NFTs can be used to promote climate action.

Unique Network is built on Polkadot, and the efficient and climate-friendly PoS blockchain. This technology and infrastructure allows meaningful steps to be taken for environmental conservation.

Polkadot Common Good Parachains Update: Blockchains to Benefit the Polkadot Community

Polkadot Common Good Parachains Update: Blockchains to Benefit the Polkadot Community
In this episode, host Jorrin Bruns (Support Engineer, Parity Technologies) is joined by Joe Petrowski (Common Good Parachains Team Lead, Web3 Foundation) to talk about common good parachains (https://polkadot.network/blog/common-good-parachains-an-introduction-to-governance-allocated-parachain-slots/) (aka system level parachains), the layer-1 Polkadot blockchains dedicated to core functionality that benefits the entire Polkadot ecosystem. Since Statemint, dedicated to asset and NFT functionality, launched as Polkadot’s first common good parachain (https://polkadot.network/blog/statemint-becomes-first-common-good-parachain-on-polkadot/), many more have been in development. This episode explores how common good chains are evolving and what this means for the Polkadot ecosystem, from the new Collectives parachain, evolving NFTs on Statemint, to the upcoming Bridge Hub parachain, and many exciting projects coming out of the ecosystem. During this talk, Petrowski describes how common good parachains are elected, categorized, onboarded, and eventually made available to users. He highlights the importance of the Cross-Consensus Message Format (XCM) (https://polkadot.network/blog/xcm-the-cross-consensus-message-format/) for system-level parachains, and those which are ready to launch once XCMv3 is deployed. Finally, during the analysis of parachain transaction validation and finalization, we discover the eye-opening benefits of moving core functionality off the relay chain; Polkadot could support far more than 100 parachains, with far fewer than 1,000 validators needed to process transactions with the same security guarantees as before. Epic Uranus, North Node and Mars Conjunction in Taurus

Epic Uranus, North Node and Mars Conjunction in Taurus

An epic astrological event occurs in late July - early August 2022, when the outer planet Uranus, conjoins with the North Node (Rahu) and Mars in the sign Taurus in tropical Astrology.  The days that will be particularly intense are July 26-August 8, 2022. This alignment brings major shifts in consciousness.  There will be shakes and quakes in our society and globally. There are many possible outcome that will have shocking events and repercussions.

Cryptocurrency will have a brief comeback as the Uranus, North Node and Mars conjunction in Taurus activates the natal Uranus in a positive aspect to Bitcoin's astrological chart in Bitcoin's natal 8th house of money for unexpected resources.

Mars and Rahu (the North Node) are both considered malefic in Vedic Astrology, while Uranus is a western astrological planet symbolizing change and the unexpected.  We may see something explosive occur, or get news that will shock and surprise everyone when Mars (aggression-force) combines with Uranus (shocks or the unexpected) and the North Node, called Rahu in Vedic astrology (known for uncontrolled passions and material pursuits).

Power shifts could change the course of history and our planetary trajectory.  We need to be aware of manipulated events which will create control agendas.

The epic astrological alignment occurs in the sign Taurus in tropical astrology. Taurus is an earth sign and a money sign.  Some areas that might be implicated are finances, global economy, environment, agriculture, extreme weather conditions, and other earth upheavals such as earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes and hurricanes and high winds.

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018 and stays until 2025.  When Uranus transits Taurus, it affects financial markets, interactions with the natural world, and attitudes toward security.  The previous time Uranus transited Taurus was from 1934-1942.  Historically, that was a very challenging time with major shifts and shocking events such as the collapse of the German economy which gave rise to Nazism in Germany and WWII.

Uranus is the great awakener, rebel and revolutionary, bringing the energy of change, sometimes through destabilization, upheaval, chaos and breakdowns.  When Uranus aligns with North Node and Mars, there may be some intense energies that will feel chaotic.

The good news is that whatever events play out during this epic conjunction and in the following days and months, Uranus will awaken consciousness.  It's important not to get distracted by the 3D theatrics, but rather align with the higher frequencies and available galactic energies beaming in to accelerate our evolution.

OriginTrail: Decentralized Knowledge Graph & the Semantic Web3
This week, Jorrin Bruns (Support Engineer, Parity Technologies) is joined by OriginTrail’s Tomaž Levak (co-founder) and Žiga Drev (co-founder). OriginTrail is a Substrate-based blockchain that recently won a parachain slot on Polkadot. OriginTrail developed the world’s first Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) to organize humanity’s most important assets, making them discoverable, verifiable, and valuable, often referred to as 'the google of Web3'. This talk explores the real-world use cases of OriginTrail, and how through the synergy of knowledge graphs and blockchains, DKG forms the "semantic layer of Web3", enabling Web3 builders to organize, discover, and verify anything. It’s similar to the technology used by major Web2 giants like Google and Amazon to power their services. The OriginTrail team explain how they moved into Web3 and achieved mainstream adoption, starting out on Ethereum as one of the first and most promising blockchain projects to address supply chain use cases, and evolving into a multichain decentralized knowledge network. They also discuss the OriginTrail parachain, enhancing the DKG with Substrate, unleashing network effects through Polkadot, collaborating with parachains, and how you can participate in OriginTrail, from running nodes to interacting with the community. Moonbeam aims to provide developers with the ability to port existing Ethereum DApps or to create new DApps using familiar Ethereum development tools. This will substantially decrease the barrier to entry for successful Ethereum DApps that want to move to a more performant and cost-effective platform.

Verifiable data streams with KYVE Co-founder John Letey

Verifiable data streams with KYVE Co-founder John Letey

"We are doing to data what the blockchain did to finance" - KYVE

The amount of data being produced by all of the chains in a multi-chain world is sky-rocketing. It is also of practical (and philosophical) importance to store this data in a permanent and economical way on the Permaweb.

In this discussion with John Letey, co-founder of KYVE, we explore how KYVE enables data providers to seamlessly store data and reliably verify their data streams. We learn about the process of becoming a validator in the network (in testnet at the time of recording), how uploading occurs, and insight into the speed at which chains can integrate into the KYVE protocol. This is an inspiring conversation with an individual who cares about data integrity and building quality technology.
