Ep 026: James, the OG of personal development

Ep 026: James, the OG of personal development

James was the brother of Jesus and for all of Jesus’s life, James did not believe He was the Son of God. It wasn’t until after Jesus died, was buried, rose from the dead and appeared to James that James actually believed. What a relief, right? We aren’t the only ones who sometimes need a little extra help believing. (Lord, help our unbelief).

In today’s episode of the Far More Podcast, Liz and Jason discuss the book of James, who Liz refers to as the OG of personal development. James is one of Jason’s favorite books of the Bible as well as one of his favorite people from the Bible because he so closely identifies with them. James was very practical, pragmatic and most of the book is based on acting out your faith.

For Liz, however, it is one of the most challenging books of the Bible. Shocker! Listen in as they unpack the challenging, yet practical book of James.

Make Your Character Your Loudest Statement

Make Your Character Your Loudest Statement

In this episode of Navigate the Day, we delve into the concept of making your character your loudest statement. We draw inspiration from the teachings of Musonius Rufus, a Roman Stoic philosopher, who emphasized the importance of living a practical and mindful life in accordance with philosophy.

As we explore the journal prompt, "Do my actions and mind match my philosophy?", we are encouraged to reflect on our own lives and the ways in which we may or may not be living in accordance with our guiding principles.

Despite our best efforts, we may find that our actions and thoughts don't always match up with our philosophy. It can be easy to get discouraged and feel defeated, but we must remember that living a mindful life is an ongoing process that requires patience and perseverance.

As we work towards aligning our thoughts and actions with our philosophy, we must be honest with ourselves and acknowledge where we may have fallen short in the past. We must also practice patience and take things one day at a time, focusing on small steps we can take to move closer to our goals.

Ultimately, the most important thing is to make a conscious effort to live in accordance with our philosophy, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zone and taking risks. By doing so, we can lead a more fulfilling and virtuous life, and make our character our loudest statement.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

    Bible Study: Romans 14:1-12

    Bible Study: Romans 14:1-12

Welcome back to our study of Romans! In this episode, we'll be diving into Romans 14:1-12, where Paul addresses how Christians should handle disagreements and maintain unity in the church. The chapter begins by emphasizing the importance of accepting one another, just as God has accepted us. We'll discuss the dangers of judging or condemning other Christians, and instead explore how we can let Jesus be Lord and Judge in our interactions with one another.

As we'll see, Paul's focus in this chapter is on building up the church and promoting mutual edification. Join me as we explore these important topics in the book of Romans!
