    Katherine C. Nordal, PhD, the executive director for professional practice of the American Psychological Association, oversees the promotion of the professional practice of psychology and ensures psychological services' accessibility and availability through legislative and judicial advocacy, public education and marketplace initiatives. Under her leadership, the directorate supports the professional needs of psychologists in all practice settings and develops educational materials about the value of psychological services for the public, policymakers and employer community. Nordal began her professional career in a community mental health center. She maintained a full-time private practice in Mississippi for 28 years before assuming her current position at APA. Her clinical interests include learning, behavioral and emotional disorders in children and adolescents; neuropsychological assessment; brain injury in children and adults; and civil forensic psychology.
