Psalms Series Part 12: Psalm 150
Join us as we study the Psalms this season at Trinity North Shore.

Canon Tim Clayton continues our series in the Psalms with a closer look at the last psalm in the Book of Psalms, Psalm 150.
Really a psalm that is summing up the entirety of the book.

God is worthy to be praised simply because He is God.
At the same time, the nature of God's character is so good, so loving, so magnificent, so powerful, it's almost as if when we praise Him, some of that praise falls back into us and in turn lifts us up and transforms us.
It can't help but help to lift our hearts and spirits.
Praise is an ancient and proven kind of therapy.
When we praise God and gaze upon his glory, we are also transformed.

Turn to Him today in the quietness of your hearts, we invite you to take a moment to thank God for being good to you, generous, beautiful, faithful, gracious, and powerful.
May the peace of God be with you today.

    PSALMS
The power of music + melody + poetry together = songs.
Singing to the Lord together is good for our mental health, our soul, our appreciation of God and of one another. Open your heart, bring yourself into the story of God.

Why do we sing? As Pascal said, "the heart has reasons for which reason knows not..." Music is one of the few gifts we have to bring love, to bring peace, to bring healing, to speak out against injustice, to bring praise and adoration to those we love. Music crosses those valleys, those deserts, those oceans within us and helps to bring us home within ourselves, connecting with God, and with one another.

Devotional : Praise God In His Sanctuary

Devotional : Praise God In His Sanctuary

Psalm 150 calls us to Praise God in his sanctuary.  Well for almost two years many sanctuaries have been limited in the ways people have come into the building to praise God.  However, instead of lamenting the limitations of coming into the sanctuary, the faithful people of God have created many ways to praise the mighty deeds and greatness of the Lord.

Yes, while we long for the days of being back in the sanctuary praising God with tambourine, dance, strings, and pipe. We will still praise God within the sanctuary of a Zoom session, we will still praise God within the sanctuary of a conference call, and we will still praise God in the sanctuary that we now call home.  Because we know, count on, and believe pandemic or not that everything that halth breath will praise the Lord, and that everywhere we are and all that we do is a sanctuary.

From First to Last (Psalm 150)

From First to Last (Psalm 150)

“Hallelujah!” has entered into English vocabulary and even non-religious people recognize it.  It’s a way to celebrate and punctuate something.  “Praise Yah!” (short for Yahweh) is what it literally means and is more specific.  It points us to God, the one we celebrate and praise.    Psalm 150 concludes the book of Psalms with six powerful verses that tells us where, why, how and who should praise God.

If you are getting started in a relationship with God, trying to have a quiet time or seeking guidance at this point in your life, you're in the right place.

In fifteen minutes (or less) you will listen to God's word for you, reflect on it and learn to pray to God as well as carry that word with you through the rest of your day.  What a perfect way to get started!

We are finishing season three and Psalm 150 takes us sky-high with praise to God! As the last of the "Hallelujah" psalms, it begins and ends with the Hebrew expression Hallelu-Yah or "praise Yah".

God deserves all praise in all forms, so whether with percussion, strings or wind instruments, we lift up praise to God for his greatness and great works.  Everything that has breath praises God!

Psalm 150 uses some form of the Hebrew verb "to praise" (hallal) 13 times in 6 verses.  Besides the opening and closing Hallelu-Yah, there are a large number of hallelu-hu ("praise him") and one hallelu-El ("praise God", v. 1).  The entire psalm is a doxology or short song of praise to God.

Raise up a shout of praise to God today and set an intention for how you will continue to use the Psalms to grow closer to God now that season three is over.  We can't exhaust the riches in each part of scripture we cover, but you can go deeper into them on your own using our four step process.  You can download the helpsheet that details and demonstrates the four step process we use on First Fifteen using Psalm 1.
