He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; Psalms 46:9-10

This Psalm is often called "Martin Luther’s Psalm." Whenever there was any great trouble, Luther used to say, "Let us sing the 46th Psalm together and then let the devil do his worst." With all that is happening today, it can feel like the world is spinning out of control and that risks are around every corner. Thankfully, God is in charge and He's our refuge! Psalm 46 is timely and lets us know where we can turn!

“Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10

Step One: BE STILL and declare your trust in God.

Step Two: BE STILL and reflect on the goodness and presence of God.

Step Three: BE STILL and know that He is God.

Let go of the NOISE.

Let go of the ANXIETY.

Let go of the AGENDA.

Let go and be PRESENT.

I have a Ukrainian friend who has fled her city with her family for their lives. We also have Russian friends who are horrified at what is going on.

Can I just say that, once again, the Psalms have proven themselves to be a haven for creativity and eloquent expression? Used here for the telling of us why we need not fear the chaos and evil caused by others. The actual reason, to not fear, is stated in a fairly straightforward manner, God is our strongly proven help in our times of need. He is our refuge so we need not fear. It is after these simple statements that the creativity explodes across the page. Creativity that truly creates a palpable impression of the chaos and evils being talked about. Now…. Well, before going any further, let’s hear this psalm first, shall we? Then we can chat about it. Also, I have an exciting announcement I’ll share at the end of this episode.
