    HBCU's: The Black Anglo-Saxons | GHH Sessions | S2

    HBCU's: The Black Anglo-Saxons | GHH Sessions | S2

On this episode of GHH, special guest Louis Dorsey joins us as we address part 2 on the discussion of HBCU’s producing radical black thought leaders in the realm of politics and the work force.

The episode starts with a timeline on the history of HBCU’s from pre-civil war leading into the land grant Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890 all the way up to the Civil Rights Acts of 1964. We discuss HBCU’s during desegregation as well as discuss the 1972 riots at Southern University, the 1967 riots at Tennessee State University and the 1967 riots at Texas Southern University leading into the future of the HBCU as a form of black radicalism

Federal Vs State funding for HBCU’s? Are HBCU’s still an island of hope? The plight of the black middle class as it relates to HBCU’s? We delve into a discussion to address these questions and much more!

HBCUs vs. PWIs: Is There a Wrong Choice for Black Students?

HBCUs vs. PWIs: Is There a Wrong Choice for Black Students?
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) serve an important role in the Black community, providing many generations with an opportunity for higher education. However, some Black students have always attended Predominantly White Institutions (PWis). Following the racial reckoning in the summer of 2020, many students and their families are giving consideration to the unspoken benefits of attending an HBCU. Others are concerned that while the environment may be more supportive, it may not provide the networking and other opportunities of PWIs. On this week's episode, Fallon Hamilton, a graduate of two HBCUs, will join Shannon Stokes, a graduate of a PWI and an HBCU, will join Carliss Chatman, a graduate of two PWIs to discuss their choices and experiences, and the current campus climate.

I love writing poetry is the first art form that I felt I was decently good at now not all of my poems are about thongs, love, sex, and trips with your passport to destinations that no one even knows exists. But if you enjoy poetry and want something to listen to help uplift your Sunday mood I got you because this is seduction and revolutions. Thank you so much for listening if you like what you hear please spread the word by sharing it with someone else.
