Portrait de Giacomo Casanova, figure incontournable du XVIIIe
siècle. De sa Venise natale à la Bohème, en passant par Paris, ce séducteur devant l’Éternel a défrayé la chronique. Sa vie est ponctuée de scandales sulfureux, d’espionnage pour le compte de Louis XV, d’affaires en tout genre et de jouissances.  

Homme de lettres, son Histoire de ma vie est un témoignage unique des coutumes européennes d’une époque, comme le rappelle Blaise Cendrars dans Pro Domo,
préface de la réédition de La Fin du monde filmée par l’Ange N.-D, 1949 : « Je considère les Mémoires de Casanova comme la véritable Encyclopédie du XVIIIe siècle ». 

De l’autre, il vient affranchir Casanova du mythe que l’inconscient collectif lui a attaché : celui d’un tombeur sempiternel qui s’adonne sans scrupules à la luxure, y compris dans le viol et l’inceste. Tous les spécialistes du personnage s’accordent à dire qu’Histoire de ma vie dévoile au contraire un grand écrivain et un homme fragile bien loin du dominateur, se moquant de lui-même, soucieux de prouver l’égalité des sexes et de donner aux femmes la place dont le siècle les prive, sans mentir sur son absence de moralité, mais cherchant à séduire encore et toujours par une plume captivante, affriolante presque.

Habia una vez en la isla de Chipre un Rey llamado Pigmalion. Este rey era considerado un hombre justo y bueno pero pese a ser el rey absoluto tenia muchos problemas con las mujeres que alguna vez cortejaba. Algunas de ellas habían sido groseras, otras egoístas y algunas de ellas simplemente lo ignoraban como hombre. Despues de intentar multiples veces de encontrar una mujer que lo apreciara y amara decidió que el mejor camino era despreciar el genero femenino y jurar que nunca se casaria con una mujer. 

Con el tiempo este Joven rey fue encontrando su vida vacia y poco en la vida le llamaba la atención y la soledad de los días y las noches lo hicieron mas y mas amargo. Sin embargo los dioses para compensarlo lo dotaron de un gran don. La capacidad de esculpir. El rey dedico innumerables días y noches a aprender y perfeccionar el bello arte de la escultura y con el tiempo se fue volviendo un gran escultor capaz de hacer brotar bellas figuras que rivalizaban con el original. 

Despues de varios años de dedicación y pese a su declarado desprecio por las mujeres decidió esculpir una mujer. 

Hizo traer el mas bello bloque del mas blanco marfil que  se pudiera obtener y con delicadeza comenzó a extraer el pedazos buscando liberar la figura de mujer que estuviera atrapada adentro. 

Con paciencia y método, el marfil fue poco a poco reflejando las delicadas formas de la figura femenina y el Rey pigmalion fue lentamente contorneando cada una de aquellas formas con total dedicación y suavidad. 

Pasaron varios meses y aquella escultura comenzaba a ser cada día mas y mas parecida a una real mujer. El rey pigmalion se maravillaba de cómo sus cinceles iban transformando el rudo marfil en una copia exacta de la imagen que su mente tenia de una perfecta mujer. A sus ojos y con la habilidad de años de escultor, aquel marfil ya reflejaba la tersa piel femenina y su cuerpo le recordaba los cuerpos que alguna vez había sentido en sus devaneos anteriores. Su cara reflejaba la ternura y placidez de una mujer enamorada. Los ojos esculpidos con gran delicadeza lo miraban con la mirada profunda que solo una mujer puede tener. Y las comisuras de la boca parecían susurrarle palabras de amor. 

El rey pigmalion despertaba todos los días con un solo destino, su escultura de marfil . Y poco a poco comenzó a sentir en su interior el fuego del amor hacia su creación. Pero temeroso de ser llamado un loco a nadie rebelaba lo que estaba sintiendo. Amor por una joven mujer escultura. Pigmalión se enamoró de su creación y, a menudo, puso su mano sobre el estatuto de marfil como para asegurarse de que no estaba viva. Llamó a la doncella de marfil Galatea y adornó su hermosa figura con túnicas de mujer y colocó anillos en sus dedos y joyas alrededor de su cuello.

Como era constumbre cada año la isla ofrecia un festival a la diosa afrodita, y en aqule festival el solitario Pigmalión lamentó su situación. Cuando llegó el momento de que él desempeñara su papel en la procesión, Pigmalión se paró junto al altar y oró humildemente diciendo: "Si ustedes los dioses pueden darlo todo, les ruego que yo tenga por esposa, " y  no se atrevió a decir la "La doncella del marfil", pero en cambio dijo: "una como la doncella de marfil". La diosa Afrodita que observaba y disfrutaba el festival en su nombre escuchó su súplica y también supo del pensamiento que aquel  rey de Chipre había querido expresar y Demostrando su favor, hizo que la llama del altar se encendiera tres veces, disparando una larga llama de fuego en el aire 

Después de las festividades del día, Pigmalión regresó a casa y besó a Galatea como era su costumbre. Ante la calidez de su beso, se sobresaltó como si le hubiera picado un avispón. Los brazos que antes eran de  marfil ahora se sentían suaves al tacto y cuando presionó sua
