Forza Horizon Needs Better Characters
Can you name a character from Forza Horizon 3? What about 4 or Forza Horizon 5? We sure as heck couldn't, and that was a big talking point on this edition of the Forza World Podcast. We're back after a little summer break, and we had some Forza topics to discuss, and a ton of car news to cover, including new cars from Koenigsegg, Bentley, McLaren, Bugatti, Hennessey, Dodge, Honda, and more, as well a new Ford engine, and much more. The boys also have some interesting Forza news too: some personalities from Donut Media (Past Gas Podcast) will be featured at some point in Forza Horizon 5. This is pretty significant, because to our knowledge, this will mark the first time that real public figures will be featured in a Horizon game, and be seen as well. All this and more on episode 8!
Sound-byte 104: VR Discussion Time
Sound-bytes are our shorter episodes about what we’ve been up to recently. Jalada got a chance to try out a kitted out sim-racing setup in VR, and that got us thinking...
145: Defining a Genre; Racing
We continue our recurring segment of breaking down the games that we feel define a genre. This time it's another chunky genre; racing games. We even have to define what a racing game actually is.
Games we discuss include:
- Out Run
- F-Zero
- Super Mario Kart
- Gran Turismo
- Need for Speed: Underground 2
- Forza Horizon
He DID say "Series" (Ep. 27)
Episode 3: The best cars in racing games
This is going to sting a little. But it's okay, only for 45 minutes or so.
You see, in the latest episode of the Traxion podcast, we discuss what we think are the best cars in games. We know, it's contentious and you definitely disagree with us.
This is why we put a little twist on proceeding. So, we each get to pick what we think is the best car in gaming, and then which cars we think are underrated, finally, we pick three that we think are OP.
We'd love to hear your thoughts, and we know you'd love to tell us them, so please get in touch via social media.

Episode 6 - F-Zero GX
F-Zero GX is a Gamecube classic that sought to turn the challenge of the racing genre all the way to 11. It's a game where braking is actively discouraged, and if your speed ever drops below 1000km/h you’ve made a serious mistake. It combines this insane pace with gravity defying tracks that bend and twist in on themselves creatively. Does F Zero GX’s refined racing formulae stand up to modern day criticism, or is it just too difficult?
In this week’s episode, we discuss:
- Just how fast are you really going in F-Zero GX? Are these legitimate speeds, or is it all a clever illusion?
- Does the story mode of the game teach you the lessons you need to complete the grand prixs? Or is it the other way round?
- Are long straight tracks where you get to go super fast far superior (team Pat), or is it better when the track is filled with difficult, hairpin turns (team James)?
Find out the answers to these questions, and many more, in this week’s episode of Retro Spectives!
