有人的地方就有人际矛盾，有人际矛盾就有身心的伤害，有身心的伤害就有情绪的波动，情绪的波动会累计成为仇恨，仇恨会摧毁了人间的爱、快乐和幸福。 生活在错综复杂的人际交往中，有太多的事情会引起我们的仇恨：曾经侵略我们国家、杀害我们民族的敌人，曾经害得你倾家荡产的债主，或车祸撞死你家人的酒鬼，曾经出卖你的朋友，抛弃你而移情别恋的旧情人，背叛你而搞外遇的配偶，常常占你便宜的同事，甚至只是一个生活习惯和你很不同的室友，或一个排队等车、买票时插队的陌生人……一句话、一个眼神、一个小动作就让我们无名火三丈升。大大小小的愤恨几乎是我们每一天都必须面对、必须处理的难题。生命中充满着等待我们宽恕的人，当中有一些可能是恶意伤害者，但大多数是无意伤害者，其中一些可能根本就不知道自己伤害了我们。无论他是谁，这些人挑战着我们生命最难跨越却又不能不跨越的门槛。没错，宽恕，是人生最难学的功课之一，也是基督徒灵程上一大门槛。这些心结我们一刻不解决，抑或我们一刻不学不会宽恕的功课，生命就不能真正成长。 我相信，你在经常在这个困境中挣扎，你知道不饶恕的心理让你非常难受，但要你饶恕又似乎做不到，怎么办？……
