My understanding is that some sellers claimed they weren't properly informed about commissions going to buyer brokers. But here in Maine, we have a different approach. We make it crystal clear on our listing agreements. You know exactly how much is going to the buyer broker, and it's your choice whether to pay it or not.
Real estate laws vary from state to state, and that's why these lawsuits happened elsewhere. In Maine, transparency is key, and we want you to understand every aspect of your transaction.
Think of it like selling an item online. We're the ones making your property shine and attracting buyers, while buyer brokers are like Etsy or eBay, bringing in potential buyers. Everyone deserves fair compensation for their hard work.
