Our Calling & It’s Urgent Demand

Our Calling & It’s Urgent Demand
UNDERSTAND YOUR CALLINGYour calling as Christ's follower supersede your vocation. All Christians, regardless of our chosen careers have been called from the rest of the world to serve as Priests unto our God. This special service comes with the rare privilege of direct access to God's most holy presence. Therefore, wherever God places you by virtue of your vocation, field of study, job or any office you occupy per time, you are there to represent God to the people and intercede before God on their behalf. Beware of self-centered preoccupations of life. Serve according to your calling and impact eternity.

    The Lord, Our Healer

    The Lord, Our Healer
On May 28, 2017. Ikoyi Baptist Church will celebrate its Godden Jubilee. In preparation for the celebrations which will commence on Sunday, May 21, we shall need your utmost cooperation to support the Church in cash and in kind. The Jubilee Committee is working hard and we plead with you to cooperate with them if they come to solicit for your assistance. It is our earnest prayer that Ikoyi Baptist Church will continue to be obedient to the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ as we continue to exist. May the light of Jesus shine brighter from this corner of Lateef Jakande Avenue in Ikoyi to the uttermost part of the earth. Amen.

    God's Purpose for Our Jubilee

    God's Purpose for Our Jubilee
MISSIONSToday, we take some time to focus on something that I believe is at the very core, or heartbeat of God, and it is Missions. Without any doubt in my mind, I believe that Missions is something God loves, and His stamp of approval is all over it! You see, I believe that before we can ever give our prayerful and financial support to something, we must first believe in it’s importance and value, and in the church, we must believe in it’s Biblical importance and value. As Christians, we have the mandate to propagate the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We see the Mandate clearly spelt out by Jesus Christ Himself, just after His Resurrection, and a few days before He ascended to Heaven in Matthew 28:18-20.For Missions to ever become important to us, we must ask the Holy Spirit to somehow open our eyes and heart to the immediacy of the need! The Bible says in John 4:35 “Do you not say, ’Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” The need is NOW!Jesus never asked us to “keep His good news to ourselves”, but to do our best until the whole world has heard the Good News that a Savior has come to bring not only life for the now, but also life for the hereafter! May God help us all in Jesus name. Amen.

Maximizing Life Opportunities for Fulfilling Our Calling

Maximizing Life Opportunities for Fulfilling Our Calling
OUR MANDATEThe church is God’s relief to a sick and hurting world both physically and spiritually. All through the Bible, we see that God is deeply concerned with the poor, widows and the orphans. He is the God who always rescues the needy. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ came to the world and was highly compassionate with the sick and needy. Jesus was mindful to meet the greatest need of mankind which is the spiritual depravity of man.As Jesus did while in this world so He sent His church to do. The preaching of the Word is very important but the task of helping the poor and needy must not be neglected. Obviously the church cannot adequately do this task alone. We must, however, be found doing the will of God no matter how little we are capable. We must live out “pure religion”. We must be involved in this task because God commanded it, Jesus exemplified it and we need to be connected to it. The world is watching to see who truly loves others enough to take action. God is counting on His church and we must not disappoint Him. James 1:27 says “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”Ikoyi Baptist Church members, let us rise to this challenge because people are hurting in Nigeria today.
