    God never said that-part 2 - Audio

    God never said that-part 2 - Audio
Hey Family, Last Sunday we started a brand-new series called GOD NEVER SAID THAT. The purpose is to combat some of the cultural beliefs that often guide our lives--but which are not at all biblical. Last week we looked at the common assumption that God wants us to be happy.. This week we'll dig deeper into a phrase that many of us believe but which is not biblical: "God will never give you more than you can handle." The fact is, the Bible never says that. Now before you feel all betrayed, you need to find out what the Bible really does say, and what God does to comfort and strengthen us in times of serious stress. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday at 10 a.m.--bring friends and family! --Edwin

Hey Family, A lot of times people think they're familiar with what the Bible says, when actually that's not true at all! For example, nowhere in scripture does it say, "God helps those who help themselves." This Sunday we're starting a new series called GOD NEVER SAID THAT! In it we'll look at some familiar "words of wisdom" that are not from God at all. Scripture should guide our lives and our relationships, but if we're making choices according to certain things that God never said in the first place, we're going to go off the rails!

Are You Really A Christian - Audio

Are You Really A Christian - Audio
Hey Family, How often do you catch yourself wondering whether somebody else's behavior shows them to be a Christian? Scripture tells us not to judge others, but we ARE asked to examine ourselves. So this week we're going to pause and take some time to determine whether we are fully devoted followers of Christ. It's important to us all, because being a true Christ-follower not only brings us peace and satisfaction, but allows us to bring joy and blessings into the world as well. If we address the things that might be tripping us up in our walk, we can go from being an insecure Christian to a faith-filled follower of Jesus. You don't want to miss this--and bring family and friends!

We came to believe part 10 - Audio

We came to believe part 10 - Audio
Hey Family, This week we finish our series WE CAME TO BELIEVE. We've looked at every line of the Apostles' Creed, which lays out the beliefs we all share as Christians. I hope it's been a powerful reminder of the great truths that God has given us to live by. As we finish the Apostles Creed, we come to the last word, a little word that has powerful meanings for us in our walk together with Jesus. Join us Sunday at 10 a.m. as we welcome Zac Martin from Trinity Grace Church in Brooklyn. We've enjoyed having him before and we look forward as he brings God's word. --Edwin

We came to beleive part 9 - Audio

We came to beleive part 9 - Audio
Hey Family, Maybe we don't think about it so much, but we know some day it will happen: Each one of us will die. What happens at that moment? Do we vanish like the flame of a blown-out candle? Or does our soul remain, and go on to another kind of existence? Scripture has much to tell us about what happens after death. This week we will continue our series on what all Christians believe as we host Mark Marchak from Missions Door, one of our favorite guest speakers. We will also celebrate a baptism at Sunday's service, so I hope to see you at 10 a.m.!

We came to believe -Part 9 - Audio

We came to believe -Part 9 - Audio
Hey Family, Over the last few weeks in our series WE CAME TO BELIEVE, we've been talking about the basic beliefs all Christians share. Last Sunday we talked about how important it is to be a part of a church family. This week we'll learn about what that means in terms of how we treat each other. Jesus taught us to forgive others. Because God forgives each of us, we are meant to show that forgiveness ourselves--even to others who have hurt us deeply. How can we possibly begin that painful process? Please come this Sunday at 10 a.m. to hear what the Bible has to say about how to grow in this very important area of our lives.

'm looking forward to seeing you this Sunday when we continue with our series, We Came to Believe. We'll be talking about the joy of being part of a church community. We've all had times when we couldn't get to church on a Sunday, and so maybe we listened to a sermon on TV or even a podcast on the RHOW website. But God never meant for us to experience his love alone, separate from each other. On the contrary, you probably can remember a time when being with other Christians was the only thing that kept you from collapsing under some great stress or sadness. It's that thought that we're going to explore this Sunday.

    The Holy Spirit - Audio

    The Holy Spirit - Audio
Hey Family, I hope you've benefited from the series we've been preaching on the Apostles' Creed, which spells out what all Christians believe. This Sunday we welcome one of RHOW's most popular guest preachers! John Fils-Aime, senior pastor of Central Baptist Church in Manhattan, will be talking about the amazing role the Holy Spirit plays in our lives. Come learn more about the third Person in the Holy Trinity. I hope to see you at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Hey Family, Special guest speaker Pastor Mike Fleishman. When it comes to God, there are certain things that are easy to highlight and celebrate--like how he forgives our sin and how we will be in heaven with him forever. These are wonderful truths from the Bible that we love to hear. However, there are certain truths that we don't like to talk about so much, especially in our culture. One is God's right to judge--and not only that, but his insistence that he will judge. This week, as we continue our study of the Apostles' Creed, we'll talk about how God is going to come again and how he will judge the living and the dead. This is an unbelievably important message for Christians. We have already been judged in Christ, and the judgment God will bring is for our celebration and joy. But for those who are far from God, he will bring a judgment of punishment. God doesn't turn a blind eye to injustice. He doesn't ignore terrorism, or children being allowed to go hungry, or the mistreatment of the poor. These actions and many others will be judged and addressed, and we can have confidence and even take joy in that truth. --Edwin

We Came to Believe Part 6 - Audio

We Came to Believe Part 6 - Audio
Hey Family, Last Sunday we were reminded that Jesus loves us to death, and that our sin is no match for his grace. This week in our series WE CAME TO BELIEVE we will wrestle with the question, did Jesus really go to hell? We'll look at the part of the Apostle's Creed where we find a profound statement of what Christ has done on our behalf to win us to himself. There's literally nothing that Jesus won't do to win us back to an intimate, abiding relationship with him. Come this Sunday to find just how much you are loved. --Edwin

We Came to Believe Part 5 - Audio

We Came to Believe Part 5 - Audio
Hey Family, Many of us believe that before we can go to God we have to clean up our act, stop all our bad habits, and address all our sins, to be worthy of God's love. But the scriptures show over and over again that we don't pursue God, he pursues us. This week as we continue with our series We Came to Believe, we will focus on our God who has pursued us throughout history even to this moment. This week will be one of the most creative services you will ever see here at RHOW, so think about inviting a friend! I pray that I'll see you at 10 am Sunday.

We Came to Believe Part 4 - Audio

We Came to Believe Part 4 - Audio
ey Family, So far in our series WE CAME TO BELIEVE, we've learned that: * What we believe deep down inside determines our behavior. * God is both infinite--and intimate. * Jesus is God. This week, we'll gather to talk about the third part of the holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit. With the power of the Spirit, we can transform from a life of self-centeredness to a life that worships God through serving others. Can't imagine what that life would be like? Join us at 10 a.m. on Sunday and find out! --Edwin

We Came to Believe Part 3 - Audio

We Came to Believe Part 3 - Audio
Hey Family, When Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do you say that I am?," he was asking the most basic question that any Christian can ponder. The world would have us believe that Jesus has no relevance to our lives today--that he was nothing more than a great teacher, or a prophet among many other prophets, or maybe even just a myth. But the Bible tells a very different story. It explains very clearly that Jesus not only came to die for us, but continues to affect every aspect of our lives, from our family to our finances.

Hey Family, What we think affects what we do. So it makes sense that we should think the way God would have us think. This is true in our friendships, relationships, family and work. At RHOW this week we're starting a new series, WE CAME TO BELIEVE. Over the next few weeks we will learn what it means to believe rightly, and we'll experience greater freedom and joy as a result. Come to hear and rejoice in what it means to be a Christian and receive the power and promises that God gives us through his word.

Life, Money, Legacy Part 4 - Audio

Life, Money, Legacy Part 4 - Audio
Hey Family, Last week in our series LIFE, MONEY, LEGACY we talked about how putting God first in our finances is the most important financial decision we ever have to make. I am grateful that many of us are learning a great deal about how to handle money in ways that bring glory to God. This Sunday we'll continue with the next step in the series, so bring your friends and loved ones--anyone who might benefit from the message. We'll also celebrate Communion as a church family. --Edwin

Life, Money, Legacy Part 3 - Audio

Life, Money, Legacy Part 3 - Audio
Money can be a very controversial subject. Many of us are very sensitive about this issue because we feel uncomfortable talking about our money. However in this series we are going past our comfort zone and asking God to reshape how we think of money. Since so many divorces are caused by arguments about money and so many people find themselves in a world of stress about this subject we thought it would be good if our church learned how to deal with money in a more biblical and God honoring way. Please don't miss this Sunday's service as we continue this series and find ourselves breaking free from the stress of not managing God's money well, come out from under debt, and be happier than we have ever been with our finances. Hope to see you there. --Sincerely, Edwin
