An Elephant, a Boy, and Marilyn Monroe

An Elephant, a Boy, and Marilyn Monroe

For this episode of All Things Marilyn, we interview Emmy award winning journalist Marvin Scott, who at 15 years of age photographed Marilyn Monroe on March 31, 1955. She was making her first public appearance following her divorce from baseball great Joe DiMaggio. The event was a charity opening of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Listen as Mr. Scott tells us how he gained access to the event and what it was like to be there. Also, hear the story of the personal interaction he had with American's reigning sex goddess. Mr. Scott has received countless awards for the nearly 15,000 reports and interviews he's completed throughout his career. This is the very first time he's ever been interviewed about his experience with Marilyn Monroe.

E325: Clowning Around with Bircus Brewing

E325: Clowning Around with Bircus Brewing

It's good to be back.  Did you miss us?  Brian's feeling all better and it was great to get back in the studio.

We're joined this week but the crazy crew from Bircus Brewing in Ludlow, KY.  FYI, it's pronounced "beer-cus."  Brand Acrobat Jilliam Francois, Sales Manager (fancy title pending) Matt Cremeans, and Brewmaster JD fill us in on the origins and future of their brewery.

Bircus is what you get when a Ringling Bros. clown opens a theater/circus and realizes all the money is made on concessions.  That's the short story of why Paul Miller opened his brewery.

If you visit the taproom for a brew, like maybe a Juggaloats IPA, you may see jugglers, stilt walkers, fire breathers, some good old fashioned wrestling... and brick oven pizzas.  It's always 3 rings of fun at Bircus.

3rd of July at The Nest

If you're in the Atlanta area come on out and join us for the 3rd of July celebration at The Nest Kennesaw.  BBQ and beer with special features... whole hog and whole smoked GATOR.

    The Beer List

    • Good Word No Wooden Shoes (Donnerbier-style lager)
    • Three Taverns Pilsen Liberation
    • Three Taverns Martry’s Breath (Barrel-Aged Stout with Tonka and Vanilla beans)
    • Highland Hazy Heights Hazy IPA

BFE EP27: The One-Legged Man with Mark Gindick

    IN THIS EPISODE

We return with guest Mark Gindick (physical comedian, clown, and actor) where he reminds us that we are in the service business and also that the person that we bring on stage is always the star. That came about because of a story that he tells in this episode. We all probably have one of those stories where we have done a show and we have gotten somebody on stage and instantly we realized that this could be a real nightmare. Well, such is the case with this story that Mark shares. It's a funny story but it also carries a great message.

We also check in with ventriloquist Landon Harvey in a new segment of the podcast that we call “Virtual Viewpoint with Landon”. Landon has over a million followers on Tik-Tok and has a huge presence on social media as an entertainer. He guides us with some great tips on how to share valuable content with your audience on different platforms, and without having to spend hours doing it.
