    Goodbye Ansett

    Goodbye Ansett

This week we get political, scientific, delve into a lawsuit and then cancel out all that brainpower with a bit of reality telly.

Joe discusses how he met the leader of an alien cult, Mel talks about her love for promotional products and we both try and make sense of how Jeffery Atkins became Ja Rule.

New number 1s in music and at the box office and a big game release this time 20 years ago but it's not for the console.

    Plus so much more!

B-Side Bonus: Jim Morrison's Final Interview with Journalist Ben Fong-Torres

    LINER NOTES:

On this Text Prose & RockNRoll B-Side, we are pleased to present the final interview with Doors' front man Jim Morrison before this untimely death at age 27. The interview, conducted by (then) Rolling Stone editor Ben Fong-Torres was unscheduled and occurred at the home of a mutual friend in Los Angeles in the summer of 1971. Only days later would Morrison be flying off to Paris, France where he would ultimately meet his end. This interview is unedited and contains graphic language.

Special Thanks to Ben Fong-Torres for sharing and letting us release the audio of his interview. For more info and to keep up on Ben, visit his website

Jay Blakesberg (Legendary Rock Photographer), Part 2

Jay Blakesberg (Legendary Rock Photographer), Part 2

Welcome to Roadcase, a podcast exploring the live music experience!!  Join us for the conclusion of this special two-part interview with legendary rock photographer, Jay Blakesberg.  Jay has been documenting live music -- the artists and the scene for over 40 years and is still going strong.  He has been published over 300 times in Rolling Stone magazine alone in addition to other major music publications such as Relix, Spin and Guitar Player Magazine among others.  In this episode we explore the aspect of the rock photographer as portrait artist and what it takes to get Jerry Garcia, Neil Young and other luminaries, for example, to sit down for a photoshoot.  But the heart of the matter for me is Jay's stellar live show photography and we'll get into Jay's style and how he's gotten such great access over the years beginning with an amazing Led Zeppelin story.  We also talk about Jay's documentation of the live music scene and what that's like in the jam band world.  Jay is also currently working of several new books to be published this year.  You can find more info about Jay's books at his website:  http://www.blakesberg.com or his publishing company, Rock Out Books.  Cheers, and rock on!!

    054: It's all happening! | Almost Famous (2000)

Wow, this was my first time seeing this film!

While I'm late to the game, Jai has seen it many times. Listen to my hot takes as a first time viewer and why it took me 20 years to see it. The mystique of Penny Lane, the soundtrack, and why we wish we experienced the 70s are some of our many talking points.
