It is a most striking thing how personal and national suffering drew Abraham Lincoln into the reality of God, rather than pushing him away.

Today, Pastor Marc Sharp poses the question, "What did Mary know about Jesus’ life and purpose before he was born, or as she held him in her arms?" The Bible is clear that Mary knew quite a bit about the magnitude of what had happened that night in Bethlehem. It also shows that she didn’t know every detail, but what she didn’t know, she entrusted to God’s wisdom in faith. Seems like a lesson for us today! Through our Saviour we will Triumph! He is the source of our strength, “a present help in the time of trouble!” To Triumph in the Works of His hands is a most powerful statement. Consider the Works of our Creator, and ponder the glorious Gift of Jesus as He has Redeemed us, He is in the Believer who is serious about Him, He surrounds us day and night and He will never leave us. Let us say “I Will Triumph” in Lord, My God, My Saviour, and His Holy Ghost! Let us give forth a Triumphant shout of Praise.

We hear Jesus say “Launch out into the deep …” we turn to the fruit of the Spirit given to us for a deeper experience in our salvation. Not only the Fruit of the Spirit, but the simplicity of God’s Word reveals truth that will sustain us when we are toiling through a night experience! In a crisis we must do as Peter did, respond with “nevertheless at Thy Word I will...!”
