    The Body - Audio

    The Body - Audio
Our human body is a complex, and intricate creation of individual parts and systems that function together. Our text paints a vivid picture of how the parts of a church work together like the parts of a body to function as a whole. If the various systems work in harmony, we say that we are healthy. The healthy body has a miraculous way of protecting and healing itself from imbalances and infections. When we begin to understand how important our body is, we strive to take better care of it. Paul describes the church as a body. The illustration shows the various parts working together to achieve God’s plan. Paul describes three qualities of the body. First is unity. Any part of the body that gets cut off will die. We have to stay connected to the body of Christ to survive. As important as unity is, diversity is just as important. Each part serves a distinct purpose. We can walk on our hands, but our feet are better suited to walking. When we discover who we are and the role that we play, we discover a power that is unstoppable. Our usefulness is in our understanding of our role and the part we play for a greater purpose. In a healthy body, there is no reason for competition. There is room for everybody in the body. An eye cannot hear, a nose cannot see, and hears cannot feel, but all are necessary. Humanity judges things from the top down, but God judges from the inside out. If we can realize our part, and be the best we can be at that part, there is nothing that we cannot do. In a human body, the various parts cooperate and compensate for each other. The same is true in the body of Christ. We need each other as part of the body.
