Le nucléaire français est «sous emprise» de la Russie, affirme Greenpeace qui avait déjà qualifié de «scandaleuse» la poursuite du commerce nucléaire avec la Russie, secteur qui n'est pas visé par des sanctions internationales, contrairement aux hydrocarbures
Selon l'ONG, la Russie contrôlerait 43% des importations d'uranium naturel en provenance du Kazakhstan et d'Ouzbékistan, et un tiers de celles d'uranium enrichi. Le gouvernement français , persistant dans le déni et le tissu de mensonges a bien entendu réfuté l'argumentation de l'ONG
Greenpeace avait affirmé samedi 11 mars que la filière nucléaire française était «sous emprise» de la Russie, via des importations d'uranium naturel en provenance du Kazakhstan et d'Ouzbékistan, soit plus de 40% de l'approvisionnement de la France, outre de l'uranium enrichi.
En 2022, année de l'invasion de l'Ukraine par la Russie, «près de la moitié de l'uranium naturel importé en France provenait du Kazakhstan et d'Ouzbékistan», 43% exactement, a souligné Greenpeace dans un rapport publié deux jours avant le début de l'examen par l'Assemblée nationale d'un projet de loi visant à accélérer la construction de nouveaux réacteurs nucléaires .
Or, selon l'ONG, «la quasi-totalité de l'uranium naturel en provenance du Kazakhstan, et une partie considérable de celui venant d'Ouzbékistan, passe entre les mains du monopole russe du nucléaire civil, Rosatom , qui contrôle le transport de toutes les matières nucléaires transitant sur le sol russe», via des convois ferroviaires jusqu'au port de Saint-Pétersbourg, puis des cargos jusqu'en France.
