    Episode 160 | Reproductive Injustice

This week on the podcast, we discuss the outrageous pro-choice concepts that we often treat with a seriousness that they don’t deserve - such as “consent to pregnancy,” “reproductive justice,” how the term fetus is used to indicate the unborn aren’t human babies, and more! Plus, we talk about the growing number of pro-lifers convicted of violating the F.A.C.E. act, and the legal debate it has sparked about its constitutionality and how it can be weaponized.

    Topics Discussed:

    • Statue dedicated to Ginsburg & abortion headed to Texas
    • Escalating FACE convictions sparks a legal debate
    • Outrageous pro-abortion concepts

    Brad Meltzer

    Brad Meltzer

    Brad Meltzer: tequila

Brad reveals what it takes to make him wear his underpants on the outside, the wildest forms of terror attack that he brainstormed with the CIA and FBI while a member of the Red Cell Unit, some hilarious insider stories of Barbara Bush, what’s underneath the White House, how he started his “I Am…” book series for kids, and how he first fell in love with the writing process.

Antonin Scalia Remembered ~ James Rosen

Antonin Scalia Remembered ~ James Rosen

Antonin Scalia was a larger than life presence in the conservative legal movement and in the judicial branch of the U.S. government during the latter part of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st.

In this episode, we get to know the late Supreme Court justice at a personal level - as the boy who became the student, who became the lawyer, who became the judge, who ultimately exerted more influence on the highest court during his 30-year tenure than perhaps any of his peers in the post-World War II era.

Perhaps most importantly, we get to know him as the deeply devoted follower of Jesus Christ who took seriously the obligation to discern and pursue his vocation.

Our guest is James Rosen, author of the recently published biography Scalia: Rise to Greatness, 1936-1986. The book is the first installment in a planned two-volume biography of Scalia, which is already earning accolades as the authoritative chronicle of the late justice’s life and legacy.

An author, historian and journalist, James Rosen currently serves as the Chief White House Correspondent for Newsmax.

REPUBLICANS NOW TREAT MASS SHOOTINGS AS IF THEY WERE WEATHER - 5.8.23

REPUBLICANS NOW TREAT MASS SHOOTINGS AS IF THEY WERE WEATHER - 5.8.23

EPISODE 196: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN

A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: "The first girl I walked up to," said one of the first bystanders to the scene in Allen, Texas, "was crouched down covering her head in the bushes, so I felt for a pulse, pulled her head to the side and she had no face." The cops then refused to take questions and the authorities had nothing but emotionless platitudes.

We live now in a society in which our children are randomly put to death in public, with weapons of war, by Right Wing Terrorists - and the Republicans treat it as blandly as if it were all as inevitable as Bad Weather. Hurricanes, Tornados, Thunderstorms, Mass Shootings. If they show any emotion it is to tell us this is god's will or to explain we have "lost" the battle to rein in assault weapons, as the shrill screeching fascist Megyn Kelly did.

The antidote to the dour acceptance of this slaughter must come from the president of the United States. He must act - by executive orders to address those peripheral areas that can at least reduce the carnage - and most importantly by stating the truth: Republicans Cause Mass Shootings.

B-Block (17:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Judge calls Chump's bluff in E. Jean Carroll Trial, Pence gives Jack Smith guilty foreknowledge, Tucker Carlson has plans to burn down Fox, and Dick Durbin has excuses for Dianne Feinstein and John Roberts (21:45) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Ted Cruz can't tell one African-American from another, Chuck Grassley loses the thread on the "explosive" Biden document (it's the Burisma crap), and Vivek Ramaswamy is trying to bury his Fellowship. His... SOROS Fellowship.

C-Block (27:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Gray, in the worsening situation at the NYC pound. (28:05) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 24 hours before Megyn Kelly's infamous tweets, of all the people who could have been walking on my New York street, who do I run into but the idiot NBC executive who gave her $69 million and tried to mainstream her. Happily I managed to avoid his gaze; as usual, Andy Lack was too busy listening to himself talk.

Radical Democrats Push Abortion, Infanticide, and Population Control | FP Episode 26

Radical Democrats Push Abortion, Infanticide, and Population Control | FP Episode 26

After devastating election losses occasioned by swampy-establishment Republican cowardice on the pro-life issue, extreme Democrats in Minnesota push forward the most radical abortion legislation ever conceived.  Under Minnesota Democrats' plan, there will be no restrictions on abortion up to the moment of birth. The bill would also legalize infanticide after botched abortions. All of this in the name of population control.

Plus, in our Behind the Headlines segment: Joe Biden distracts from China’s aggression with talk of aliens, and Ted Cruz says he will investigate government collusion with big tech to censor conservative viewpoints.

What Will The US Criminalising Abortion Mean For Aussie Women?

Andrew and Jerry Tackle Abortion Politics!

Andrew and Jerry Tackle Abortion Politics!

A draft Supreme Court opinion on abortion was leaked to the press earlier this week.  Was this unprecedented or merely unusual?  Andrew and Jerry are joined by Carrie Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network (and a former clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas) to talk about this earth-shattering story.  They talk about the climate of the Supreme Court, why this leak shakes the court to its very foundations.  Then they talk about the abortion issue itself--what would overturning Roe do (and what it wouldn't do), and why doxxing Supreme Court justices and protesting at their homes is so dangerous.

Jerry and Andrew both talk about their approaches to the issue of life--the philosophical approaches, as well as the science.  They talk about the differences between America's laws and Europe's.  Andrew talks about Supreme Court cases--and they have a discussion of "stare decisis" (the reliance on precedent) and the lines that get drawn between upholding and overturning prior cases.  Jerry gets emotional (and rightly so) talking about the threats on Catholics, and the history of Bishop "Dagger John" Hughes.

And Andrew had Covid... he talks about getting it, and turning a corner.

    Bonus: Ordinary Equality S2 E9: It’s a TRAP!
In light of what's happening at the Supreme Court right now, we're bringing you another show from Wonder Media Network that you need to listen to: Ordinary Equality. When the anti-choice movement couldn’t stop individuals from choosing to get an abortion, they turned to the next biggest roadblock--the abortion providers themselves. Today, hosts Kate Kelly and Jamia Wilson are talking all about TRAP laws. How did the anti-choice movement work around Roe v. Wade? How did these laws create a systemic, legal attack on abortion access? And why are even more being passed today?

    What is Kind Leadership?

    What is Kind Leadership?
We've spent the past year answering this question, piece by piece. We've discussed key behavior traits and met with people we believe embody the KL spirit. For our one year anniversary episode (I know, right?!), we found a topic that connects with the core belief of Kind Leadership-"Tough Compassion." How can we have a backbone and stick up for ourselves while allowing those with powerful, contradictory beliefs the space to express themselves? If you truly want diversity, you had better be able to answer that question. If you want new opinions, you need to be flexible (at the right time). You also need to know when to end the debate and move forward. Lastly, thank you for giving us this past year to explore. We hope you've learned someith (we sure have). In this episode, we also discuss our favorite episodes and "ah-ha" moments. Feel free to comment on our LinkedIn post with your thoughts.

Emily Bazelon: A Full-on Reversal Or An Incremental Hollowing Out For Roe V. Wade?

This week on All Ears Abby talks to New York Times Magazine staff writer, Yale Law School scholar, and Slate Political Gabfest co-host Emily Bazelon on a host of legal and legislative changes on the horizon in the American judicial system. With the looming shift from Republican to Democratic control of the federal government on January 20th, the Supreme Court is on its own separate trajectory, set into motion by the addition of Amy Coney Barrett to the bench. Focusing primarily on women’s reproductive health and justice, Emily breaks down how Supreme Court could begin to dismantle the legal scaffolding around abortion rights, and how it could reverberate through states and communities. With an eye toward the Democrats’ newly-shifted but still razor-thin control of Congress, Abby and Emily game the potential outcomes and discuss what values and metaphorical baggage justices bring into a courtroom. With Emily’s smart takes and deep knowledge, this is an episode for the legal-savvy, the legal-curious, and even the legal-agnostic.
