Day 68: The Mystery of the Incarnation (2024)

Day 68: The Mystery of the Incarnation (2024)
We learn more about Jesus Christ’s nature as fully God and fully human. Because he was fully human, “like us in all things but sin,” Jesus had a human will that was perfectly aligned with the will of God the Father, a human body that can be seen and venerated, and a human heart with which he loves us. Fr. Mike sums up the teachings in recent readings by reviewing that the Incarnation is the mystery of the union of the divine and human natures in the one person of the Word. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 475-483. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Free to Be What I Am Made For: Overcoming Trauma with Rachel Lozano and Margaret Vasquez LPCC-S

Have you ever wondered why some of us get stuck, as in really stuck?

Did you know that sometimes we are held back from living our best selves, the person we were made to be, by our past hurts and traumatic experiences?

Back in the spring, our Heart of the Father team had the opportunity to attend a workshop on trauma informed care in ministry, hosted by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Office of the New Evangelization.

This two day workshop was led by the brilliant professional counselor and trauma therapist Margaret Vasquez, who shared her insight and depth of understanding on this complex subject in a way that was both accessible and hopeful.

We know you'll be blessed by this conversation where Margaret  beautifully explains the shaping influences of our past experiences,  her own transformative journey, and her passion for human and spiritual integration.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." 1 John 4:18

Synchronizing Your Heart to the Heart of Christ

Synchronizing Your Heart to the Heart of Christ

In this podcast, Fr. Javier del Castillo reflects on how the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us of our "need to have a heart within us that beats at the same pace as Christ's, because that's what it means to be truly human."

St. Augustine wrote, “You have made us for you, O Lord, and restless will our heart be until it rests in you.” Fr. Javier explains that "we can interpret this as our hearts will be restless until we actually synchronize our hearts to the heart of Christ."

And, our hearts are made to be synchronized with the heart of Christ in timing, intensity, and extension. It is through these three aspects that God can renew our hearts so that we can truly love the way He wants us to love-- in a human and divine way, with one heart with which we love God and with which we love everything else.

Only a heart synchronized to Jesus' heart can love and can actually co-redeem with Him by loving with His own heart. And it all happens if we allow Him to do it... substituting our heart of stone with a heart of flesh which is capable of Divine Love.
