    S4 E5 - Landline

This podcast covers New Girl Season 4, Episode 5, Landline, which originally aired on October 14, 2014 and was written by Rob Rosell and directed by Trent O’Donnell.

Here’s a quick recap of the episode:

Because of some construction, the loft doesn’t have good cell reception. Jess’s answer to this is to get the loft a landline which prompts Nick to act as a secretary and Jess to find out about Coach’s relationships with their coworkers.

This episode got a 8/10 rating from Kritika whose favorite character was Nick and Kelly rated this episode a 8.5/10 and her favorite character was Coach!

While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:

    • Blanche / Golden Girls - Coach called out Jess for commenting on his sleeping with other teachers and Coach said she was like the character Blanche from Golden Girls.
    • War Games / Short Circuit -  Nick told an elaborate story about why you shouldn’t trust technology and as the loft mates called out he likely stole that from the movie War Games or more likely Short Circuit.
    • Splash - In response to listing out other movies, the loft shared that Splash was a good movie.
    • Carson Daly - When Winston pretended to be Schmidt during the interview, he said the last book Schmidt read was Carson Daly’s biography.

Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 6!

    31. The Marvels | Loki Season 2 Finale - Review

    31. The Marvels | Loki Season 2 Finale - Review

Hey there, Cinegeeks! It's Excelsior time as we discuss two of this year's most awaited Marvel Studios releases: The Marvels and the Season 2 Finale of Disney Plus' Loki. By the way, FULL SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THIS EPISODE! You have been warned.

We first talk about The Marvels, the much-awaited team-up event involving Captain Marvel Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). We talk about the interesting dynamics in play for the reluctant teammates, if the unusually short runtime (for an MCU film) is a good or bad thing, and how the cant-miss mid-credits scene affects the future of the MCU.

We shift gears and talk about the finale of the absolutely fantastic 2nd Season of Loki. Still starring the dashing Tom Hiddleston as the titular God of Mischief, the final episode of Season 2 finds Loki coming to terms with what he needs to do to save the TVA, his friends, and what his end goal of 'glorious purpose' actually entails. We talk about the episode's fantastic developments, what they mean for the MCU Multiverse Saga moving forward, and whether we've seen the last of Loki.

    Unbreakable & Barbenheimer

    Unbreakable & Barbenheimer

In this week’s episode of the AIPT Movies podcast, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss M. Night Shyamalan’s tale of real-life superheroes and comic book mythos, Unbreakable!

Perfectly balanced horror, tension, and comedy! A wonderful cast that includes Robin Wright, a magnetic Samuel L. Jackson, and Bruce Willis in one of his greatest roles! A fantastic (and occasionally pretty funky) score from James Newton Howard! Graceful camera work and effective use of color that helps define the characters and story! One of Shyamalan’s best movies and one of his best twist endings! All that and more in this movie that helped pave the way for the modern superhero genre, and is secretly about how you can never be happy if you’re not true to yourself!

In addition, Tim and Alex share their spoiler-free thoughts on Barbie, Oppenheimer, They Cloned Tyrone, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more!
