"You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that wars, entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who had chosen him to be a soldier" (2 Tim. 2:3, 4). As Christians, we are engaged in a battle with the world, the flesh and the devil. So Paul says, "Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ, or more literally, "Take your share of suffering." No matter how tough the battle is, we are to withstand the enemy, "and having done all, to stand." The armor and weapons which God supplies make no provision for retreat or defeat. We must remember that "we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). 1. The Power of the Resurrection - Part 1 - Video
The death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ are the most important doctrines of our Christian faith. In the Gospels we have the events of the resurrected Christ; in the book of Acts we have the experience of the resurrected Christ; and in the Epistles we have the explanation of the resurrected Christ. The Apostle Paul, in particular, majors on this theme in all of his writings, and insists that it is the ground of salvation and the goal of our sanctification and service. Paul is writing his final letter before he faces martyrdom addresses Timothy, his son in the faith, he is determined that Timothy shall not falter or fail under the pressures of preaching or of persecution; so he exhorts him to "remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead, according to his gospel" (2 Tim. 2:8). In other words, come what may, Jesus is alive! That fact alone guarantees endurance now and final conquest in the hour of death. What Paul says to Timothy is the ultimate message for you and me. For us to know that Jesus is alive is all that really matters, for in our risen Lord we find the courage to live and the victory to die. #TransformingLives, #TransformingLivesWithPastorObe, #BethelCityOfGlory, #ObadiahSwen, #Obelizswen, #BethelVA
