scripture: acts 11:19-11:26

Adversity is advancement! Persecution comes?! The Kingdom shall advance! Hostility rises between races and peoples and groups?! The Kingdom shall advance! The enemy or critics and foes throw character stains in your faces, or in the faces of all Christians for evils we sinners are guilty of? Even so, the Kingdom shall advance! Have Christians ever been labeled as bigoted, backwards, judgmental? Even so, the kingdom shall advance!

Receiving, Equipping, Sending. This has been true of ECC since the beginning. We receive folks in fellowship, equip them for service, and send them out. Let's keep it up!

In the early church, the faithful boldness of many ordinary believers led to a rapid spread of the gospel. What part can we play in the multiplication of the Good News through our church to the world?

The church at Antioch was a sending church, sending Barnabas and Saul off to missionary work. After all, the church is not for itself; it's for the world. God uses this human, and also eternal, institution to accomplish his eternal purposes.

The most difficult struggle in life is being a Christian. Very little is done to become a Christian, but to become more like Christ, to be identified as one of His followers, is arguably the greatest challenge we will face in life. Dr. Sams reminds us how important our Church community is in supporting us through life storms. We are Jesus to each other, filled with His Spirit, empowered to bring His healing, and His peace, and to be full of grace and truth.
