Ahaz - The Book of 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles

Ahaz - The Book of 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles

In this Bible Story, we learn about the wicked King Ahaz. He rules Judah with idolatry and evil, and his twisted practices and unstable mind make Judah vulnerable to attack. This story is inspired by 2 Chronicles 28 & 2 Kings 16. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is 2 Chronicles 28:22 from the King James Version.

Episode 147: Every year, King Hoshea would send a tribute to Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, to protect them. One year however, he betrayed his allegiance by sending a plea to the king of Egypt begging for his help against his current masters. However, Assyrian spies found out before the message could arrive and their fate was sealed. Because of his rebellion, Shalmaneser raided Israel, uprooted its people, and imprisoned its king. After years of rebelling against God and ignoring His warnings, all were led back to Assyria as slaves.

How to Find Purpose | Multiply

How to Find Purpose | Multiply

What does it mean to multiply your faith?

The strategy of multiplication is exactly how Jesus spread the good news of the gospel over 2,000 years ago. Rather than using His divine power to make everyone believe, He instead allowed people to spread His message across the globe through the process of discipleship.

2 Timothy 2:2 says "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others" (NIV). As a church we need more people to begin discipling others, because without that, we will never reach those that are far away.

Walking on Water - The Gospels

Walking on Water - The Gospels

In this Bible Story, Jesus feeds five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. The crowds want him to be made king, so Jesus departs before the crowd becomes violent. The disciples depart on a boat while Jesus stays on shore to pray. Then, in power and glory, Jesus walks on water to return with his disciples. This story is inspired by John 6:1-10, Matthew 14:14-33. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Matthew 14:29 from the King James Version.

Episode 193: As Jesus resumed his teaching around the shores of Galilee, the crowd around Him grew to swelling numbers. After teaching them all day, He had them sit for a meal. Though there were only two small fish and five round loaves of bread, Jesus showed the crowd that He has the power to provide for their needs. He multiplied the food to feed over five-thousand people! After this, the crowd became frenzied and Jesus sent His disciples ahead of Him on the sea while He escaped to pray. As the disciples were on the sea in the late of night, Jesus appeared walking on the water next to them. And though they were frightened they got a first-hand glimpse at what faith in Jesus can do.

    Powerful Christianity

    Powerful Christianity

    From radical to powerful

Unusual and counter traditions, especially contrary to status quo when the status quo is sinful.  Radically pure and upright.  Leading young people to the Lord and getting them free of drugs, obedient to parents good in school, and having the local churches against us, parents against us, and evangelical churches unwilling to even pray with us. Fear after 9/11 and my stand to continue to work for the Lord and left on a flight to Turkey soon after.

We miss out on what Paul did on the end of his second journey and the start of his third journey, and the story continues in Ephesus, and will pick up again when Paul reaches Ephesus.  This is quite an amazing story where we first encounter Apollos. He is from Egypt, a Jew, learned and eloquent, instructed (a Disciple), teaches accurately about Jesus, and is bold!  He only knows the baptism of John!

A woman and her husband set time to discuss this with him…

    1. Correcting an accomplished minister of the Gospel: how do you do that? Using the OT: Joel 2, Zechariah 4:6
    2. Showing the importance of John‘s ministry: Isaiah 40:3
    3. What John taught: Luke 3:16
    4. What Jesus taught: John 16: 13,14
    5. Instructions of Jesus: Acts 1:4,4; 7,8

The difference between repentance and filling with the Spirit of God.

                Our act and God’s action

                Empty and filling

                Our ability, and God’s ability

                Our power, and God’s power

Our insight and God’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding

We see the outside, God sees the hearts

Our surrender to God includes receiving his power to overcome in our lives.

    #014 Purpose Journey

    #014 Purpose Journey

    Episode Highlights, Links and Resources:

In the introduction, Jeremie mentions that he has been working with the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department. He says that they are learning about their Leadership Voices and the Know Yourself to Lead Yourself tool.  If you want to take the 5 Voices Assessment, do that here.

Our guest on this episode is Maria Guy, Guardian/Nurturer. To contact Maria Guy: See her GiANT Storefront here. There you can find the 5 Voices Pro Assessment. Purchase licenses for all of your people so your team can begin to know themselves and each other.

Thank you to Dwayne from Jacksonville, Florida for this episode's audience question:
"I'm a manager. How do I get my people engaged? When I try to be intentional, it feels like I can't get them engaged?
Maria's answer: Give yourself an opportunity to implement your learning for yourself first before sharing with your people. Let them see you apply things first.

Jeremie's answer: Let your journey of growth do the heavy work so that trust and relationships are built. Then it will be natural for people to want to follow you.

    Our favorite episode quotes:
Jeremie, "Very few leaders do a good job of transferring the magic they have. So when the leader leaves, all of that wisdom, background, connections and history goes out the door."
Steve, "Go slower and deeper which means you go further and you end up doing it for longer." "If I died tomorrow, how much of my magic would go with you?"
Maria,  "People don't think that multiplying is part of their job, but when they grasp it and make room for it, it transforms teams and organizations."

Episode Takeaway from Steve:  It always starts with you. You never graduate from the school of self-awareness. I wish we could get to a certain level and then be done, but that's not the way it is. Ask yourself this: "how do I be the best version of me? How do I be intentional?"
Episode Takeaway from Jeremie: The world needs better leaders. Leaders, it's the perseverance and the tenacity that builds unbelievable character. Be encouraged, if you are a leader working hard at it every day, we need you.

    Maximization Myth

    Maximization Myth

Maximization is only effective when preceded with optimization, and multiplication.

Alan Andersen discuses Optimization first. This means asking yourself "what" and "how" questions, applying Personal Accountability. It is walking through what is effective. Most of the time effectiveness takes planning and preparation.

Multiplication is all about efficiency and producing results. In order to achieve efficiency we must be persistent with a mindset that the more I work this out, like a muscle with continued repetition gets stronger and more efficient with use.

Then Maximization takes over, because of the execution of everything that has been practiced, now works like a finely tuned machine. Maximization is a process and culmination of being effective and efficient leading to excellence.

    Episode 1 Snippet:
I just can't get away from the "Commands of Christ" to "Go and Make Disciples" and I feel like what we do here is what we need to do there so that the Kingdom of God gets everywhere. And so I have a sense of a calling towards Multiplying Disciples. So, in a city like Houston, and in most large urban cities, we're losing significant ground. And I feel like only a multiplication model or lifestyle is the only way we're going to get to where we need to go.
