Sunday, May 30, 2021 – Memorial Day weekend. We want to thank all of our servicemen and women that have served and for those that have given their ultimate sacrifice – their life so that we can enjoy freedom. We honor you today! The title of today’s message as we continue in our study of the Book of Jude is: “The Dangers of Subtracting From the Gospel”. Jude is aware of and is warning the church that ungodly people are secretly slipping their way into the church and doing great harm by twisting and distorting the Words of God into a message that says erroneously that once a person is saved and has a relationship with God, they can live any kind of life they chose, even if it’s immoral. This is in direct contrast to what the word really says. Therefore, we can understand how God becomes righteously angry with these false teachers because they are leading many into a lifestyle of death and they’re using God’s word to do so. Listen in and see how this is still being done today in a magnified fashion. This us cause to examine our own hearts. Be blessed as you do…

Jude is setting up the rest of his letter by stating very clearly that God’s Word must be protected from the false messages of the enemies influence of false teachers and false prophets that we’re secretly slipping in among the believers. Think of it, if the enemy was trying to deceive people by twisting the freeing message of the gospel, then, how much more is he today? Jude pens himself as a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. This epistle was written to warn the church against immoral teaches and alarming heresies which were endangering the faith of believers.

Jude describes the entrance of those who do not wish to help the body of Christ, but desire to bring it harm. In tonight's second lesson from Jude we will look at the overall flow of the book and an in depth look at how these people take aim to destroy the church from within. Jude exhorts us to contend earnestly for the faith, not just compromise to get along for the sake of Christian unity as many today claim.
