Do you know what it means to "follow" Jesus? Due to social media, in today's society, the word "follow" means to simply press a button and "become a fan" of someone. But to "Follow Jesus" means something totally different. "Following Jesus" means to read and study the Word of God, and apply what we learn from the Word of God to our every day lives; to love people in the same manner that Jesus loves people. Big Idea - What is the Kingdom of God like? It seems like a lot of rules - God wants to take control of our lives and tell us how to live. Following Jesus can also lead to suffering and persecution. So, why would anyone want to follow Him? Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of heaven is like the joyous celebration of a wedding. God invites us to share in His joy. He is gracious and patient in extending the invitation because He truly wants to share His joy with us! We truly honor God by participating in His joy and we greatly dishonor God by seeking joy apart from Him. The Kingdom is for those who have faith to accept the invitation and dress for the occasion - that is, by repentance and sanctification to be clothed in righteousness through the work of Christ.

    Marriage Supper of the Lamb

    Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Let's meditate a bit on what a glorious event that will be. Imagine the banquet table ... it will have to be miles ling to seat all the saints. Yet, I am sure, we will see and interact with all. Our human minds cannot comprehend it; but we will be seated with friends and loved ones. We'll see men and women of the Bible who inspired us to finish our course. But best of all, seated at the head of the banquet table will be Jesus, the Lamb of God, our Bridegroom. What a tremendous event! Revelation 19:7-8

Many do not comprehend the tremendous act of mercy God has shown to our world by allowing all who accept Him to have eternal life with Him. Many want eternal life after their death, but they want to live life on their terms while they are living. We cannot have it both ways. Just as God takes great joy at the worship and obedience of those who love Him. He also takes great offense to those who treat His mercy lightly, even defiantly. Jesus teaches us today the value of accepting God’s invitation before it is withdrawn.
