This may seem like one of those teachings of Jesus that is too hard and demanding to take seriously. But my prayer is that by digging into this we will see that the narrow gate and the difficult path is actually a life of delight and great purpose. Whereas the wide gate and the broad path, even though it’s the default and easy path is one of great regret and pain. Jesus is the narrow gate, unless one walks thru this gate by accepting Jesus as our savior then they will automatically enter the wide gate. There is no “option 3”. Jesus is the only way the God the Father, thus He’s the only way to eternal life. There’s joy and peace and hope on the narrow path, even if it’s a difficult path. Worship with us…

Everyone that even remotely believes in an afterlife wants to go to heaven. Chances are even those who don’t believe in an afterlife would say if there is a Heaven they want to go there. But desire alone does not determine our destination. We must be going the right direction to reach our desired destination.

As Jesus begins drawing the Sermon on the Mount to a conclusion, he uses four illustrations to bring his listeners to a point of decision. In this first illustration he describes two paths; one is narrow and exclusive, the other is wide and very inclusive. Have you made the choice to walk the narrow path?

Last month, we were reminded of our identity as the church. As we continue with our series on “The Church: God’s Kingdom” for the month of February, we will look into the call to enter God’s kingdom in Jesus’ sermon on the mount (Mt 7:13-29). This week, we will start by investigating the nature, cost, and principles of “The Narrow Way”.

As Jesus concludes his sermon he challenges us "to enter by the narrow gate." Have you?
