Max Kepler's Boyish Smile (Mariners Series Recap, 7/17-20)

The Minnesota Twins wrap up their post-All Star Break road trip with a 2-2 series split against the Seattle Mariners, and much credit goes to their trio of left-handed hitters in Eddie Julien, Alex Kirilloff and Max Kepler. David and Dan discuss their roles in the two victories, as well as the notable struggles of superstar(?) Byron Buxton. Dan asks whether Sonny Gray's best days are behind him, and David ponders the roster shuffling that might be necessarily to keep both Julien and Jorge Polanco when he returns sometime in the next week. They bring up the difference it has made having Carlos Correa atop the lineup card, and they wonder whether yet again Rocco Baldelli got a little cute with his managerial decisions in Game 3. Finally, in their look around the league, they give credit to Rob Manfred for his significant decisions as MLB Commissioner. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Arraez's Favorite Trophy (Mariners Series Recap, 6/13-6/15)

Arraez's Favorite Trophy (Mariners Series Recap, 6/13-6/15)

With Joe Ryan and Sonny Gray back in the starting rotation, the Twins take two of three from the Seattle Mariners to begin a road trip out West. All-Star candidate Luis Arraez comes through with a big hit in Game 3 to secure a victory -- as well as a heralded(?) award from the YouTube TV broadcast crew. David picks Arraez as his series beast, but Dan saves that honor for a reliever who is performing much better than almost anyone expected this season. The boys also discuss the Alex Kirilloff conundrum as well as Rocco Baldelli's management of the bullpen arms. Nelson Cruz has apparently had a strong influence on Arraez, and the Twins' infielder has also drawn the attention of Mariners great Ichiro Suzuki. They also discuss a couple significant and quirky pitching performances from around the league. Thanks for listening, and go Twins.
